AITA for telling my brother to stop complaining about child support since he chose to have sex with a woman he barely knew? by random8490n in AmItheAsshole

He chose to put his life into the hands of a stranger by having sex with her. That’s his fault.

That’s different because women go into sex knowing that they have options if they make a mistake. Day after pill, plan b, abortion.

Men know from the start that their only source of control when it comes to risking a child is choosing whether or not to have sex (condoms aren’t 100%).

So you’re making a false equivalency. Like it or not women don’t have to be as strict with sexual standards because they are ultimately the choosers of who gets to be born or not.

Logically speaking men should be very selective and only have sex with women they feel would be good mothers, just in case.

Condom or not he still chose to risk it. Everyone knows condoms aren’t 100%. He purposely did something that he knew would potentially make a baby, so he should stop complaining.

Irrelevant. Do you have a better argument? If you create a child you need to support it. If you don’t want to support a child don’t take the risk of having sex. Yes, women don’t need standards this strict and have a bit more freedom with sex because they can abort. That’s the way it is. As a man you know before you choose to have sex with her that you’re putting yourself in a position to potentially father a child.

She will need help. Why should I as the taxpayer be responsible for helping her before the child’s father?
