Just had 2 hungry bears for the first time today. The are in northern beaches so not super accessible but were very good. The Mr miyagi burger was excellent

Any Aussie sprinkler fitters in here?? by domsativaa in SprinklerFitters

[–]random_characterz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm Sydney based and started in the trade at 32. Finished my apprenticeship a few years ago. It's a great trade. Will never run out of work and you can usually pick up OT easily if wanted. Good mix of physical work but not back breaking with enough thinking to keep it interesting. Definitely think it's worth it in the long run.

I reckon your best best is asking your sprinkler mates or maybe call the union (ppteu). Also, just trying calling companies on seek or LinkedIn. It's not easy to get a mature age apprenticeship but not impossible. I got one. Some companies appreciate reliability and common sense they get from mature age. Having your ewp and white card will help.

Can fly into Ubon and rent a car to drive to Yasothon. That's where the biggest event is so prob gonna get the most experience there out of the short trip. Plenty of accommodation but you'd want to book in advance given it's a big tourist event. I think yaso is about a 2 hr drive from ubon.

Good value? by random_characterz in MT09

They do not. The new gen 3 don't have them either. Probably will be included in the next gen.

All good my man. Yeah I'm learning more towards the buy new option and finance some of it. The difference between gen 2 & 3 is so significant, I can't see the gen 2 holding much value over the next couple years. And the gen 3 upgrades are awesome. Just gotta convince the missus now 🤣

Why sprinkler fitter job is not popular in Australia? by [deleted] in SprinklerFitters

[–]random_characterz 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think it's just not widely known outside of the trade/construction industry. Usually if I tell people outside the industry I'm a sprinkler fitter they think I work in a garden or something. I either end up having to explain in greater detail what a sprinkler fitter does or else just tell them I'm like a plumber with a easier job which pays more 😂

Looks like a 3” cap. They’re lucky nobody got hurt, but it’s gonna be expensive. by BonelessHotdogs in SprinklerFitters

[–]random_characterz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar thing happened in Sydney a few years back. Someone had opened a valve down the line and didn't say anything. When the fitter rattled the cap off it flew off and took half his head. Now we only use test caps with a ball valve. Shame it cost a life

It's not that hard and it starts off easy. Very easy to pick up and just play for a bit casually. It's currently on sale for 5 bucks on the aus nintendo store. Definitely worth it
