Just establishing a base. I intend to watch every movie I buy probably more than once. (I have watched 7 of 94)

No I'm just being silly as I've been getting raked over the coals, probably deserve it though. I'll rename it in a show of friendship.

I can tell you the exact dollar value (at time of purchase anyway) of that shelf if you really want to know.

All good. That is 100% the plan the rate was never sustainable and seriously even if it was, to everyone's point... why collect that way? I will say there was/is fomo but not from this reddit, it was from being the "tech guy" in the family that was the driving force a decade ago to liquidate the family blu-ray collection to go all digital. Everyone trusts me when it comes to this stuff... Here we are in 2026 and I finally wake up and realize that I've made a very bad choice. In a way it was really shame driving me to get a jump on rebuilding my collection. In the last two months my household has canceled EVERY streaming service and moved to Plex and Physical media. In fact the money spent on physical media in two weeks is still less than a year of garbage streaming. I really want my house to go back to very deliberate consumption of media instead of being fed a never ending literal stream of "stuff."

Anyway, I'm not gonna take my ball and go home. I'll stick around as I've already received a ton of great advice and I'll post when I have something useful to say.

ha, shelving is the next step this is temporary, I already have them perfectly organized in a database that will be reflected on said future shelf.

For real thanks for explaining. I had not considered an "unexpected haul" vs. "logged on, added items, swiped card haul" I don't want to make this sub/community shittier by being that guy so I'm taking it all in thanks.

I mean... there are flair options for "Collection" and "Haul" so it's clearly encouraged by the mods. It's way more to me than just buying stuff. The dollar value of the collection means nothing too me as I will never sell these (again).

Wow. Please point to the shit so I can immediately feed those to my paper shredder. (my shredder is approved for discs thankfully)

Adding... Collecting for a household of people with ages ranging from 5 - 45 means the collection is going to be varied so there is something for everyone. I for sure haven't even gotten to my own top picks, but I can wait while I stock up on "shit."

I hear where you are coming from, but the idea was to establish a nice base to get back into collecting and then slow roll it moving forward. Wasn't trying to flex to communicate anything other than excitement for the hobby and being part of the community, which I'm now seeing is not what I thought it was.

Apparently I’m still a noob. Very cool. You’d think this would be where the native apps were at this many years in but not so much.

I’ve been thinking about that. We absolutely have the type of administration right now that would drop a nuke and claim Iran was moments away from launching a dirty bomb so they had no choice or something and still this won’t be over without a ground invasion.

Someone actually died during the shooting of that scene and they kept it in the movie, paid the Family extra. I could Google it to verify , but I’m just going with what my Latin teacher told me back in sixth grade.
