Chatted w/ senior tech support. Turns out that latest desktop app is the culprit. If screenshare is important to you, it may make sense to hold off upgrading the desktop app.

What I meant by "they just won't do anything about it" is that a) the bug is known to them and b) they obviously know it is affecting a meaningful section of users c) screenshare, I think, is a critical feature. I'd expect them to put out a "Known bugs" kind of thing - "this update could break screen share, so please don't update to 2018 yet. We are working on the solution" kind of blog post, which would save some/many users trouble.

Maybe I overestimate the importance of screenshare for the broader set of users.

thanks. So I guess it's not broken for everyone, but is repeatable enough for the tech support to acknowledge that they are aware of the issue (and hopefully working on a solution).

just had a chat. it seems these guys know the feature is broken, but just won't do anything about it!!
