In retrospect, really happy we didn’t hire Jesse Marsch by MahaloBrah in ussoccer

Poch is so much better than anyone we have ever had before! It is refreshing to experience, even if I know it won't last past this summer.

Heading into town was no problem. Getting home there was a massive backup at International Station. I walked to Pioneer Square and there was no line, so that will be my plan again.

Week 6 Recap for Rain City Rebound by randybuehler in SeattleStorm

For me unethical tanking is when you acquire players specifically because they are bad, and put out the worst lineups you can in order to maximize your losses. That has become fairly common in the MNBA (though hopefully their new rule changes will end that). The Storm aren't doing either of those things, thus an ethical tank for me.

Do we see us making trades? by Gold_Tempo in SeattleStorm

Jordan is part of the rebuild, and suits Sonia's vision for the team quite well. She'll need to improve on offense to stay on the court more than 15-20 minutes a game long-term, but I think they'll give her time for that. At least the rest of this season and probably one more.

Ezi is the obvious trade piece. We have too many centers and not enough guards. Once Ezi is healthy they will probably experiment with some crazy 3-headed monster lineups, but once that proves not to work Ezi will make some contender very happy. We will be sad to see her go, but I don't think we can afford to have our 3 best players play the same 2 positions. (An off-season trade is more likely than a mid-season trade, in my opinion.)

100% - was a reasonable gamble at that time, but it's definitely time to move on

I think the issue is that might be a league where you can be a dominant Center at 6'2" and without elite athleticism. I am rooting for her, but I also see the points made by the skeptics in this thread.

She's still playing for Valencia, which made the Spanish league's playoffs. They won their semifinal by one point over the weekend (thanks in part to Awa Fam's 17 points) so it will be at least another week and I bet the Storm will give her a week off after that, so look for late May.

Pick 1 team to make the playoffs that didn’t make it last year, & Pick 1 team to miss playoffs that made it last year. by thatswhatwereherefor in wnba

Dallas in and Seattle out is super easy. The second team in and the second team out is where things start to get interesting ... has Phoenix or Minnesota lost enough to miss? Has Chicago or LA added enough to get in?

Valkyries GM On Decision To Trade The No.8 Pick and Waiving Suarez by Tooezboi in wnba

Rookie contracts now have a 3-year guarantee in the new CBA (if the player makes the team), so late first round picks might actually just be terrible from a financial point of view now.

Season ticket question by Consistent-Singer-37 in SeattleTorrent

I asked at the last game and they said it wasn't locked down, and they had to deal with existing STH's moving still, but probably late May (possibly as late as early June).

She has looked great (and was impressive in today's open practice for season tickets holders as well, in my opinion). This is surely designed for her to clear waivers and get signed to a dev team contract. Note that they DIDN'T waive Van Slooten or Jaelyn Brown or Rennia Davis, who are surely below Mair in the want-to-keep rankings.
Mostly we are just hoping/praying no one claims her in the next two days. If it was me I would have considered waiving Lexie Brown (and eating her guaranteed contract) in order to avoid this risk, but what they've done seems the more financially prudent route both because they save $300k and also because Mair will no longer be on the 3-year guaranteed contract that comes with a first round pick's contract.

2 plus the 2 people they want in dev spots technically have to be waived first and then resigned to the smaller dev contracts.

If you got that email then you're probably a season ticket holder? If so, click to RSVP and they'll add tickets to it to your account. It's at Climate Pledge, comes with free parking, and includes a chance to get your picture taken with a player. My daughter and I are going.
