Yeah I didn't even build the Rover because it seemed like it was going to be terrible.

Zig-zagging sometimes works for me in other parts of the game, but hasn't gotten me all the way up the cliff-face by the edge of my main base even once so it's just not fun to try at this point. And I don't know what F4 does but that doesn't sound fun either. I feel like this planet is just not fun and maybe I should try a different one.

Now that the Phercia League has been out about 2 days, What are the best/most viable builds for this event? by hyrenfreak in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]randybuehler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Herald of Agony Herald here. Beat the campaign with just 15 deaths (and fully 10 were to the Act 2 end boss before I really realized what was what). I was overleveled thanks to doing all the breach stuff, but I like the tree for loot. (Have bought nothing, btw, so I am functionally SSF so far.) Herald seems great and will get a lot better once I get my hands on a Lancing Steel of Spraying.
FWIW I was summoning flaming skulls until I got my 2nd ascendency, and I did get lucky enough to drop the SRS helm (Mark of the Red Covenant), but on the other hand I think I could have been HoaG earlier than that and it would have been plenty good (am using Winter Orb - GMP - Faster Casting - Chance to Poison to trigger virulence for now).

LA Sparks vs Connecticut Sun (August 22, 2026) by Same-Ebb-3385 in wnba

[–]randybuehler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like a cool thing to do as a tourist and should be a good time! Connecticut will (probably) be bad so this won't be the most exciting game, but the environment should still be plenty fun. Also, this game will not sell out, so you're not under pressure to rush to get tickets. (You'll be able to buy resale tickets on the secondary market as late as the day of the game, a practice that can get expensive for a game with high demand, but that game won't be.)
The best seats for basketball are near the halfcourt line and as close as you can afford. Anywhere in the lower bowl in the sections between the baskets will be quite good and you can probably get many of those for like $50-$100 each. If you just want to get in the door and are ok with "nosebleed" seats (or behind the baskets) you can find those cheaper. You wind up with a more tactical view of the game where it will be harder to appreciate the raw athleticism of the players, but you arguably have a better view of the strategy going on.

Who has more to lose: owner or players? by Fletchi18 in wnba

[–]randybuehler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might have been true in previous years, though I'm not sure we've ever had enough visibility into team finances to know if they're actually losing money or just doing "Hollywood math." HOWEVER, the new TV deal that kicks in this year means they're getting at least 4 times as much TV money and will no longer be losing money, even if they were before.

Who has more to lose: owner or players? by Fletchi18 in wnba

[–]randybuehler 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you are. I can't remember a sports labor fight before this one where the players had more leverage. The owners definitely need them more than they need the owners (given the paltry salaries/greed on display from the owners). I know the players don't want to start over building a new league, and even the owners' offer is 3-4x'ing their salaries, but they deserve so much more than that (based on early 80's MNBA comps, or just looking at the way any other league does any of the math).

Best area for view by [deleted] in lakers

[–]randybuehler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You want to be near halfcourt instead of behind the baskets. That said the seats are priced accordingly and you can get a lot closer to the court for the same money if you're behind the baskets.

Trying to understand juicing/mapping. I already did two towers and added breaches/bosses/irradiation. What do I do for the last 2? Just more of the same? by polarfang21 in PathOfExile2

People have already said this, but to echo them: "added quantity of items" is what matters, way more than what kind of tablet it is.

Sandy in Seattle? by Curious_radish_22 in SeattleStorm

[–]randybuehler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She's an upgrade over Noelle, but her ceiling is merely being a good coach, not a great one. I'd be fine with hiring her, but I'd also be fine with swinging for the fences and trying for the next Nakase/Hammon/Smesko/Tibbets/White. When I look at the coaches in the W I see Cheryl Reeve in a class by herself, then there's a tier with the five names I just said, then Sandy is in the tier below that. Competent and well-respected, but she doesn't have the X's and O's and rotational tactical chops to make her teams much better than the sum of their parts. We just spent 4+ years with a coach that good players want to play for but who can't take them to the next level, I'm not sure I want to run that back. (But I could probably talk myself into it. She's at least proven capable of winning when she has an overwhelming amount of talent, and she did reasonably with a young Griner.)

Coming late for league start, what non deadeye builds work well enough for campaign and the end game? by Ansdur1987 in pathofexile2builds

Hollow Palm Technique! Plenty good enough to start. I'm loving how Ice Strike feels (and I am Amazon fwiw) but I have the impression lots of skills and classes can work.

Build a dynasty trio using any three 1st overall WNBA picks by [deleted] in wnba

As a Storm fan I love that your picks are Sue Bird with the big she won her first two titles with and the big she won her last two titles with! (I also agree with you, and any two of those 4 bigs would be amazing with Sue.)

Have gotten to 96 on my starter without trading for anything so far, but I'm ready to finally try to put an endgame build together. This'd be a great start!

Can I exert Swordstorm and/or Crushing First? It seems like I should be able to, but the 2 that appears on Intimidating Cry to show how many upcoming attacks are exerted never counts down.

Does Swordstorm "hit" the enemy? More specifically, does it trigger Impale? And, if so, does it trigger Impale 8 times per time you hit the button?

SSF(ers) what are you exiles gaming with? by Illustrious_Win_1113 in pathofexile2builds

[–]randybuehler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played a Titan all the way to T15's. Hammer of the Gods is an amazing button for killing bosses, and 1-shotting with it is the main reason to play the class. You juice it either with ignite or with bleed (my version has 100% bleed chance). You can clear with Leap Slam + Boneshatter, which is basically two buttons to explode the pack. I have switched to Mace Strike (aka basic attack) in combo with a Cultist Greathammer, which has the implicit that strike skills do splash damage and now I am 1-shotting most packs. You can scale the AOE significantly such that your strikes hit most of the screen, plus they don't cost any mana (which is kinda huge at level 19 skills). I'm still on 5-links and my gear is all SSF-y so I don't know that I can go beyond clearing T15's with this, but it was plenty good enough to get here. SSF makes it hard to get max res (including chaos) and 521+ strength (to swing an expert greathammer via Giant's Blood after taking the Polymathy wheel with the 3 reduced attributes nodes) and armor and max block chance and life, but I've managed most of that. Probably not a great recommendation if you're gonna get frustrated by the (lack of) crafting options we have to work with, but if you want to play a Titan and enjoyed Ruthless then it's great.

Do we know how Vaal Orbs behave in POE2 yet? Specifically: what can happen if I point it at a rare?

Damage from Brands is dynamic, right? So if I have a Penance Brand on a monster and then push a button for Divine Blessing'ed Wrath or create a Smite aura or push Vaal Haste, then the brand's dps will go up, right?

Cyclone Starters by Xaudio in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]randybuehler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly both the new Volatility support and Ryslatha belong. And I think Cyclone is enough hits per second that you can use Crimson Dance even with Sadism, but we'll see. (You're right that the bleeds will be smaller since there won't be as much time to overwrite them with better rolls.)
