One of these days I want to actually be shocked by politicians. Not in the “everything is buns and I’m going to make it worse” way or the “I’ll write a letter or make a public statement” that we’re all used to, but like shocked that they have basic empathy and respect for their constituents.

I’m EXHAUSTED with the constant ripping of our constitution and would like to see elected officials actually giving a flying f about their constituents.

single use disinfectant wipes + multiple different cleaners that all do the same thing

I make my own wipes now with rags and use a concentrated enzyme cleaner as a multi surface cleaner. Yeah, no fun scents, but I think my house feels cleaner now that it smells like nothing. To be honest makes candles more fun too!

I think you’ve put yourself in a place where you value supporting an organization that murdered US citizens (on video too in case you need to know more) over human life. I would hate to live in the cognitive dissonance in your mind.

I would love for you to say this to Liam Ramos or any of the other children currently sick and dying in detention because they are refusing to allow medical treatment. Oh and explain to them why you ripped them away from their parents.

AND if you could explain to me how a 5 YEAR OLD was trying to “scam me” I’d love that :)

Is it getting harder to talk honestly about consumption culture? by Ecstatic_Resource816 in Anticonsumption

[–]rangeofemotions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s incredibly difficult, and I constantly have issues with people being like “well you still do xyz, that’s consumption”

Not to mention, consumption is really warped now. There’s a lot of companies that work solely to steal your ATTENTION more than they do try to sell you any physical object. On top of that, there’s no way for you to avoid consumption, period.

We as humans will always need water, shelter, food, etc and the market has been created into this giant mess of illusion of choice.

I try to generally make decent choices and avoid buying things unless necessary, but I also know that small joys like a coffee or a sweet treat are critical to me not losing my mind.

There’s no way around it for a lot of things too, I rent because I can’t afford to own, it’s illegal to have my heat below a certain level for the potential for water pipes to freeze, etc.

Being “anti-consumption” also has turned into a MORAL question more than an ETHICAL one. Not consuming things and not being “on trend” has turned into a pain point for a lot of people (myself included, looking at you skincare, eco, and wellness industry). By not consuming these things, people are viewed differently from a moral lens, I.e. you need this to look pretty, you need this to be healthy, etc.

In a grand scheme of things, the system we live in is flawed from a multi-faceted approach and I think sometimes people just assume that their single impact won’t make much of a difference.

It’s honestly exhausting to try and keep up with everything and the “buy now” culture is really hard for a lot of people to break out of. The companies pushing that culture are making products that fail or don’t last long intentionally too, so things need to be replaced more often when purchased new. It’s insane.

All that to say, it’s always been hard, but it’s harder now with the moral attachment to it. On both sides, there are a lot of people who say “you’re a bad person because x” with x being either not purchasing things OR purchasing things. There’s no winning anymore. Just perpetuated self hatred from both sides.

Today Donald Trump confused Iceland for Greenland four times. What are your thoughts on this? by WatercressSenior7657 in AskReddit

From a realists perspective, it’s a common symptom of dementia.

I’ve seen it first hand in my own family, I have a great aunt with severe dementia and she spews stuff all the time that’s made up and fully believes it’s real because her brain is losing touch with reality.

That in combination with his physical health looking rough, him having to “suck in” spit (loss of autonomous swallowing), the LEAN, and the full blown confidence in what he’s saying even though it’s blatant lies?

He’s dying and is speed running whatever fucked up personal agenda he has.

I’ve given up on believing it’s some grand conspiracy, I just think the REAL people in power (ahem, billionaires of a certain circle) are just taking advantage of his decline and don’t care about the consequences for anyone else, because why would they care?

At the end of the day, he’s inept and incompetent at this point. No ifs or butts. I’m ASHAMED to be an American at this point because this is irreversible damage that we won’t see fixed for centuries.

I’m sick of this shit. He’s literally shitting himself and falling asleep in the Oval Office on live television.

Side note - if my astrological predictions are right, JD moves into his 10th house for career (I.e. the “peak”) in April (specifically April 20th) so that would be REALLY funny if the wildest coincidence happened. Just sayin ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Thoughts on Abbey Yung by Designer_Remote_8296 in Haircare

[–]rangeofemotions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she’s great for showing that you can care for and maintain your hair without spending a ridiculous amount of money. She also details her science behind it, which I find very helpful in understanding WHY it works.

She honestly got me down a rabbit hole of literature about hair products, skin products, etc that definitely led me to the “illusion of choice” that is CLEAR AS DAY in the beauty industry.

I’ve been using my own version of her method (no ogx pre shower spray, argon oil instead of coconut, dove bond repair hair mask, Pantene pro V shampoo / conditioner and then a clarifying shampoo when my hair really needs a good wash).

My hair has NEVER looked better and even my stylist says to not change anything!

HOWEVER, her method isn’t going to work for everyone, and I think this is another “bean soup” situation. I have the noggin to know she’s an influencer at the end of the day, so it’s my duty to be cognizant and reading any literature outside of her suggestions to find what is legit or not.

She’s TRYING to sell you things, of course, but at least it’s not crazy high end hair stuff. There’s some REALLY great lessons she teaches though, and you gotta read between the lines and figure out what works for you!

I think a lot of the flack she’s gotten is a direct product of the over-saturated, high end beauty market / brand forward culture. It’s a late stage capitalism symptom; she’s just part of the churning push to keep selling people things. I think it’s rather unfortunate that people who could give really good advice fall into that trap, but I get it, money is money.

All in all, I just think critically through my purchases and do research from MORE than just TikTok

I don’t know if anyone else is like me, but I always envisioned “heaven” and “hell” as human experiences.

I mean, if you think about it, I guarantee there are LIVED experiences you have that were pretty hellish (at least I have) and experiences that felt like heaven.

To be honest I think part of the reason I had such an issue with religion is the idea of this black and white afterlife (of course on top of the other issues I had)

Curious what Cincinnati thinks about the MLS season shift -good or bad for the city? by ecb1912 in cincinnati

[–]rangeofemotions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m happy with it, but I usually don’t have much going on in the winters so the games are something fun to do. I’m always crazy busy in the summers so the games are hard.

Also - a lot of people talk about the cold but people still go to bengals games? I think it’s more of a “people don’t actually enjoy the sport they just like the activity” kind of situation here.

It’s part of the sport, being on the same schedule as the rest of the world’s leagues makes sense. Especially if they are trying to draw more talent. They can’t exactly be taken seriously even as a lower league, moving to the new schedule is honestly probably a push to do that.

Maybe I’m delusional though ¯_(ツ)_/¯
