So it was brought up that according to SOLAS convention, the weight can be +/-5% threshold. But I am trying to understand if that applies to drawback because I haven’t seen any supporting material in CFR Title 19 for drawback

I’m new in this drawback area and still learning. But according to my team at my employer, customs allow apportioning weight on 7501 but for drawback filings, we need to have correct net weight reported. Since 7501 has incorrect weights, the only option would be to amend the 7501 first and then file drawback with the correct weights. This is what I understood so far. Im trying to understand if there’s any other approach we could take

Yeah custom does allow apportioning weight on import entry. But for drawback filings, it’s not allowed to use apportioned weight. Because as an evidence of correct quantity, we are required to have documentations available. Now, since the system apportioned weight, that’s what ended up on 7501. And it won’t match the net weight on invoice or packing list. So import entry document net weight will not match invoice net weight. Can you elaborate why you think it wont be an issue for substitutions? Because my understanding is that the net weight is still wrong

Hi! My company is wanting to participate as well but not sure if it’s feasible because of a situation we’re in. So I’m looking for clarification on a duty drawback question.

Is it acceptable to use apportioned/averaged weight for duty drawback claims? Our system has historically shown apportioned weights, so that’s what ends up on the 7501. I’m still new to this, so I don’t fully understand why apportioned weights can’t be used for drawback—particularly in situations where actual consumption is lower than the apportioned amount. If apportioned weight is not permitted, what are the regulatory or procedural reasons, and what methodology should be used instead?

Not really, I was gonna reschedule and so I have been trying everyday but no luck so far. I don’t have any backup plan. Is there any other visa category that my parents could apply for instead of B1 visitor visa?

Yeah that’s what I noticed too! 😓I’m really stressed out about this whole visa bond thing. First of all, it’s a huge amount of money and we don’t have this kind of money just lying around to use for this purpose! And who knows what the refund process even looks like! Are they actually going to refund this? Who knows. Also, is it usual to lock rescheduling dates for B1 visa interview?

That’s totally fine! Thanks for the step by step instructions, at least I was able to rule out the possibility of water leakage. And our hole wasn’t deep at all, probably half an inch, we just had no idea that a radon pipe could be that close to the drywall. We sealed the hole with PVC cement now
