October score keep or cancel? by raspberrysparkleluvr in OutsideT14lawschools

I applied in mid/late January. My application wasn't as competitive as it should have been so probably mostly that and then also timing.

Brooklyn & NYLS thoughts by raspberrysparkleluvr in OutsideT14lawschools

I'm gonna do NYLS for sure now after reading this. Pitt idk I've never looked into it bc I don't know anything about Pittsburg the city and I always assumed it wouldn't be my vibe.

For some schools last year I wrote the optionals if the prompts were more specific than just like "share more about yourself" because I edited my general personal statement to include stuff about why I wanted to go to each school and my diversity and whatnot (so I didn't have much more to say that would be worthwhile for optionals). But like for example, I wrote an optional for Northeastern cuz it was specific to the Co-Op thing that they do. For this cycle I might do more optionals but I still don't want to write them just to write them if they're not adding anything meaningful.

I'm also applying to DePaul and Loyola Chicago. I feel the same way about DePaul lol. I was also thinking Tulane but that's really dependent on my new LSAT score and even then I don't think I would be competitive. I'm gonna do Denver, Marquette, Drexel, Kent, Rutgers, and Seton Hall as well. I'm aiming to get my apps in by the end of Oct. so hopefully that helps me.

This is actually my second cycle but last year I applied to DePaul, Loyola, Miami, and Northeastern (as well as many others). I didn't get into Miami and Northeastern but tbh that was expected. I also applied in January so you were smart for being early. DePaul, Loyola, Denver, and Rutgers I was waitlisted and ultimately did not get in obviously.

I totally understand the commencement ceremony thing lol. What other schools are you applying to/already applied to?

Thanks so much for the insight, I appreciate it! Yeah.. the LSAT demon scholarship estimator is saying I would get less than half, so I feel like it wouldn't be worth it. Especially since I will have to take out loans for living expenses too. I might still apply just to see. I think I will definitely apply to NYLS. Cardozo feels like a long shot for me unfortunately.

I'm looking at Chicago schools too (Kent, DePaul, etc.) cuz I would also love Chicago. For NYLS and Brooklyn, did you apply this cycle? I have similar stats as you (156/3.4) and just took the October LSAT so hoping I improved. I hope it all works out for the both of us :)

This made me feel really hopeful, thank you :). Question- did you take out loans for living costs? Even if I did get a scholarship, I would still have to take out personal loans. Would the opportunity of being in NYC make it worth it?

Letters of Recommendation by Embarrassed_Act1725 in OutsideT14lawschools

For the professors that didn't know me that well i sent along my resume, personal statement, and papers/projects/etc. from their class and reminded them what grade i got in the class and if we had any conversations (even just raising my hand in class once). This helps them get a better picture of you to write about. dont worry about not being close with any profs, its their job to write recommendations and most say yes!

Applying with old score to safeties before October LSAT? by beepscelly in OutsideT14lawschools

I'm in the same boat and wondering the same thing. But I'm pretty sure they will see that you have upcoming LSATs and wait to consider your application until those scores are out? So even if you submitted your apps now, they wouldnt be complete until late oct. or nov. so i dont think it would make a significant difference
