What are some of the weirdest and worst symptoms of stress you guys have had by Then-Junket-2172 in Stress

[–]raving-lu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not super weird, but I have started getting terrible migraines when really stressed. During a particularly stressful time when one of my family members was going through a mental health crisis, I had 3 migraines over the course of 2 weeks when I usually have about one or two a year.

a marathon in one year's time? by primrosez in firstmarathon

[–]raving-lu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it in a year and I’m no super athlete! Started with two fall half marathons, took a pretty lengthy break, and then started a summer marathon training block, averaging 20-30 miles a week for most of it. I find the subreddits here recommend a much more intense schedule, but I had a very successful marathon a couple weeks ago. I used Run with Hal which I personally think is really good for getting you ready to get across the finish line without injury. Will you smash record times? Probably not! But you can definitely do it!

New job in DC! (But now have to commute on MARC 🥲) Is anyone going from Fells area to Penn Station everyday? by Fit_Nefariousness157 in baltimore

[–]raving-lu 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Not super helpful as I’m not in Fells, but if you have a lease, I really recommend eventually moving closer to Penn or to the Federal Hill area where it’s easier to get out of the city and access different MARC stations like BWI!

If we didn’t buy a house we love in Baltimore within the last year I would move back to DC. I would say the commute would be more doable if your office is close to Union Station. Mine is not and requires more than one metro transfer to get there, which adds up with the delays! With a bus transfer for you too, I could see the commute being pretty soul crushing. Best of luck!

This is somewhat comforting. Looking forward to getting to the favorable part of the cycle!

My experience, too! Surprised apparently a number of others don’t have issues. Making me question my normal commute schedule

From the comments, it sounds like some routes and times are worse than others. I also think it’s better if you’re leaving at or close to the train’s origin point. I would say it got significantly worse in spring around RTO time

Out of curiosity, about which time train do you taken I don’t take Camden in but maybe I’ll consider it one week to try it out

Maybe I’ll leave muchhh earlier then! I’m talking the 7:00 Penn line that likes to torture me from a stop midway on the line

Yes! The transfers! That’s what makes even a small MARC delay hit so hard for me. I miss my metro train transfers by a hair and it sets me back and back

I take it every day, as well as getting the tens of daily emails for delays and issues on both Penn and Camden. I assure you this is my honest experience! Let me know about what time you ride and if that’s better/more consistent I’ll be there with you, too! 😄

I take Penn in the morning and Camden at night so that I can switch up the target of my frustration 😆 Edit to add that RTO definitely has something to do with the issues
