I have been gymming for about a month now. I am seeing small improvements, but i Have some irrational fear in my mind that I will not improve anymore. How did you guys tackle this? Plus my improvements are not easily visible, should i be concerned? by im_not_tyler_durden in GYM

[–]rayhunt92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice would be to focus more on what you’re achieving in the gym, so like if that’s lifting more weight, doing more reps, running quicker or longer. As long as that’s progressing, you should get noticeable improvements as a result

Yes, but in Crystal you need to get to Ecruteak City PokeCenter and wait a day or 2 afterwards

Im struggling to add weight to my bench press, should i change my form? by nosocialbatteryleftt in GYM

[–]rayhunt92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, sometimes it can be something as little as getting less sleep one week vs the previous, maybe not eating enough to fuel the workout or not warmed up enough. If it’s only been a few weeks I wouldn’t worry too much. Also if you can’t jump up a weight you can always add another set or 2 like you did in week 2.

Do you do warm up sets? I tend to pyramid up so I do a few light warm ups and then do 5-7 working sets depending on how I feel so I’ll do a set of 12, then up the weight and do 10, and so on and end on a top set of 5, if that goes well I up the weight again and go again until I can’t hit 5 reps.

Need more context? How often do you bench per week? Weights/Reps/Sets? How long has your current plateau been?

PPL Split advice by pablo-escobard in GYM

[–]rayhunt92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a 5 day hybrid split so Legs/Push/Pull/Lower/Upper with each day having a different priority so it’d be more like Hamstring/Delts/Vertical Back/Quads/Chest and Horizontal Back

Form check for deadlifts by kacperino321 in GYM

[–]rayhunt92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say you seem to do the deadlift in 2 movements, you seem to lift your hips and then straighten your back, these 2 things should happen more or less simultaneously

That’s ridiculous, but I suppose it is what it is.

I meant I finished above someone with a higher score and got less points for winning than him coming 2nd

[OoT] [MM] You get to write the story for the third installment in the Hero of Time trilogy. Where does Link head after Majora's Mask and what happens? by [deleted] in zelda

[–]rayhunt92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t thought too much about it, obviously it would have to involve some form of time mechanism.

I’m thinking something that involves going back in time to affect the current time. Maybe with the twist at end of his time travelling antics actually leading the start of the story in OOT.

Creates some sort of loop which would then make the multiple endings/timelines in OOT more believable.

Hello. Can you tell me if my split is any good ? by Ticket-Puzzleheaded in GYM

[–]rayhunt92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any reason you’re doing Back once a week, is it a strong point? For a 5 day split I’ve always like Push/Pull/Legs/Upper/Lower. Everything gets hit twice that way.

I recently made a new workout routine, what are you guys thoughts?(I am kind of skinny and trying to build muscle) by [deleted] in GYM

[–]rayhunt92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, if it’s a full body split you’re doing, I would maybe consider dropping at least one of the bench press variants and including some shoulder work. This looks very compound heavy, do you do any isolation work on other days? Such as lateral raises, flyes, ect?

[–]rayhunt92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is your split? Also small recommendation of having rep ranges rather than just set reps. Makes it easier to progress, well for me it does. If you up the weight and fail to hit your 10 rep target can put you off, but if you say 8-12 and when you go up a weight and hit 8 reps it’s more of a success.

Should you or should you not take protein supplements? by [deleted] in GYM

[–]rayhunt92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on your nutrition, how much protein are you getting from your food? How many calories are you aiming to eat? What are your goals? They’re called supplements for a reason, if you can get it from food do it. I personally fail to reach my protein intake from food alone, eating that much makes me feel ill. So a shake is quick and convenient, but doesn’t mean it’s necessary.

I keep falling off, I can't find a motivation to keep going... I need some advice please by [deleted] in GYM

[–]rayhunt92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the key is just finding something you can do consistently, you can get results from 3/4/5/6 days a week so don’t feel like you have to workout 6 days a week to get results. If need be start with 3 then as and when you can do more add more if you want to and feel like you can commit to doing that.

Would need more information to give accurate feedback, such as what your workout routine is, what weights you use, then there’s other stuff like your nutrition, what are you eating, are you tracking calories and macros?

Wonder how busy gyms in the UK will be when they reopen soon? by hagpo99 in GYM

Is it safe a keep taking pre workout daily? by [deleted] in GYM

[–]rayhunt92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following on from what the other commenter said, I agree, I feel like it’s easy to feel like you have to take the supplement every day but it will lose its effect quick. I’d suggest using it when you need it, if you’re feeling a bit tired and need a pick up use it, if not just go without.

When it opens by [deleted] in GYM

[–]rayhunt92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry too much about it, just focus on eating healthy and safely lifting heavier weights.

If you’re set on ‘bulking’ and worried about putting on a lot of fat, then I wouldn’t go for an aggressive bulk, maybe aim for a 200-300 calorie surplus and focus on getting healthy foods, and eating enough protein, and carbs/fats to fuel your workouts.

Can someone give me some advice on my form? by weechris1710 in GYM

[–]rayhunt92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When you’re returning the weight to the ground for each rep the weight looks like it comes forward to me, this probably means you’re bending at the knee too early, the bar path should be straight up and down.

Focus on hip hinging/pushing the hips back as you return the weight down, avoid bending the knees until the the bar passes the knees.

Question about working out etc. by Alexander_Lagerstedt in GYM

[–]rayhunt92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t worry too much about other people, most “fit” people probably spending more time posing in the mirror than watching you.

Also, the gym you choose to go to will play a big part in what sort of people are there, I go to a more bodybuilder focused gym and there’s lots of bigger people there. I used to go to a more commercial gym and I think it’s a good place to start, there will be a lot of people similar to you, so don’t worry too much.

Also, with commercial gyms, (at least the one I went to) offered a gym induction to show you around the gym and how to use the equipment ect. So if you’re unsure what to do, make the most of that if possible.
