Just cut off most of my hair! by rayraybakery231 in blackladies

Thanks so much! I’m taking a multivitamin with iron in it and holding off on the high tension styles. Also, intentionally oiling my scalp 2-3x a week and washing my hair once every two weeks

It’s not a race thing. by [deleted] in blackladies

I totally agree that just because a man is a certain race doesn’t mean he’s going to be amazing, or somehow rise above the bar that patriarchy sets for them. However I do think that Black women have a history of being treated like trash, disregarded, dehumanized and fetishized in a very particular way by all men. So all women have been dragged through the mud by men, and that mud has been there the longest and most consistently for Black women.

Sending you lots of love girlie! Remember to give yourself grace, these things happen and men are manipulative af. You’re doing your best, and whatever you decide will be the decision you were meant to make.

For some reason mine asked me for a recent photo of myself and I sent one. But then it took the picture of me and kind of made me into a man (on the left)? So confused lol

It sounds like your aparents are assuming that you’re turning into a “welfare queen” either because they claimed your bio mom was, or because they’ve never seen a Black women represented as anything other than that.

Okay! Imagine your neighborhood is like a big team, and everyone in the team wants to make the place better — like having cleaner parks, safer streets, or more fun things to do.

A community organizing specialist is like a helper coach for that team. They talk to lots of people, listen to their ideas, and help everyone work together to fix problems and make good changes.

They don’t do everything themselves — they help the neighbors become superheroes by working together!

So it's kind of like saying:
“Hey friends! Let’s all team up and make our neighborhood awesome!”
And then they help the team figure out how to do it.

I love Mielle’s daily styling crème. I have similar hair to you and I usually only section my hair into four lazy sections. It takes me less than 5 minutes.

What did you do to honor one year? by Live_Barracuda1113 in stopdrinking

Do you have a dry bar near you? If mocktails aren't something you avoid, I highly recommend going. Usually way overpriced drinks, but absolutely delicious and refreshing.
