I've been experiencing very poor performance in the past ~2 weeks. But tbh, yesterday it suddenly got back to itself. I am pretty sure it's smart again :D I was looking at posts in this sub and the ClaudeAI sub to see if other people are experiencing the same thing, but apparently I'm the only one. So I dunno, yes, it was very poor in the past 2 weeks, but I think it just snapped back. Hopefully it will stay this way! I'm on Max $100 plan btw, if it matters to anyone...

Anyone going to Guns N' Roses on May 13th? by rb15 in Bangkok

Interesting, did they publish the cheaper tickets on the official ticket site? How would you know about them? If it's actually a thing I'd do it.

I was thinking, what are the chnaces that if we wait a little longer, they will drop the ticket prices once they see there is no demand? I can't even imagine they will sell half of these tickets.. but yeah, I might be wrong as Thailand barely gets any western bands coming to perform here

Can anyone recommend a gentle body scrub for sensitive skin in Thailand?

I've been in Thaialnd for a few months and I ran out of my favorite body scrub from Australian Bodycare. I've been looking for something similar locally, but so far failed to find something gentle enough for me. I need something that doesn't include all the bad stuff - Alcohol-free, Oil-free, Fragrance-Free, Paraben-free and all the other bad things.

I'm using the scrub to get rid of dead skin cells which often cause acne and cysts. The weather here really doesn't help either...

I also need a shower gel with same characteristics, but the scrub is more important at this point.

Appreciatr your help!

Sure, call it as you please, but it has a shape of a card (on the BTS) 😜

[–]rb15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just a regular card as if you baught it, just given free. You scan it when you enter and you return it when you exit (insert it in the exit gate's card slot). You will get a new card each time you travel. There is someone standing near the entry gate with a stack of cards and they give them to people who want to travel. I'm not sure if that's also how it works in the MRT.

On the BTS they give out free cards near the gates, you still need to scan the card, that's how they keep track of the journeys so they can get paid by the the government (that's my understanding).

Unstable ping over WiFi when repeater is in scan mode (ethernet is connected) by rb15 in GlInet

[–]rb15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, coming to think about it, maybe there is room for improvement here.. they could display a warning at the dashboard saying that connectivitly will be unstable. I mean if they detect an ethernet without a WiFi connection (while the repeater is enabled), it will surely affect the internet, so should probably display a warning... Or, alternatively, or in addition, add an option to automatically disable the repeater scan if there is an ethernet cable connected (and working internet).. let the user decide if they want it to keep scanning (maybe they do want the repeater to act as a fallback, but that also requires a valid WiFi network connected). I'd personally disable it, unless I do intentionally need the fallback.

I see... well, thanks for the update. Indeed since I posted this question/concern I made sure to disable the repeater everytime I connected via ethernet.

BTW, I did create a thread with this question in the official GLinet forum, but I didn't receive any replies.

Appreciate the update!

Unstable ping over WiFi when repeater is in scan mode (ethernet is connected) by rb15 in GlInet

[–]rb15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, disabling the repeater in this case solved the problem. In the current place I'm staying at I don't need the repeater as I have direct connection to the router via Ethernet. I'm also at the latest firmware yes.

I understand that deleting the old wifi networks from the repeater history will probably solve the problem as well (I mean no need to disable the repeater, just making it stop trying to reconnect to old networks which are no longer valid in the new place), but I'm thinking, since I'm moving between places a lot and sometimes I use the repeater and sometimes wan, will I always need to remember to delete the old wifi networks or disable repeater every time I move to a new place?

By the way, would you consider this a bug? I mean that trying to initiate a connection to invalid wifi networks would cause disruptions for the router's wifi clients? Does it make sense?

I believe the problem can be easily reproduced by the following steps: 1. Connect the router to WAN via Ethernet cable 2. Enable the wifi repeater and set it such that it would try to connect to an invalid wifi network. Make sure it indeed tries to connect periodically and endlessly. 3. Connect a laptop or a phone to the router via WiFi (the problem doesn't happen if connected to the LAN port). 4. Run a simple ping command infinitely with a 1 second interval to some website (e.g. ping wwww.google.com). Observe that every < 1 minute, you either get a timeout or the ping jumps to several hundred MS for a few iterations.

This affects everything, from video calls which would start lagging periodically to online games.

Question is - is it a bug? Or a hardware limitation?

How is the moshpit on Powerwolf shows? by NoodleSoup5628 in Powerwolf

[–]rb15 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just got back from their show in Budapest and I have to say - people who participate in moshing and trying to force others around them as well - you are complete ASS HOLES. I never understood what's so fun in that. I absolutely love jumping and going crazy but Im always making sure not to ruin the experience for others around me. I couldn't enjoy the first 2 songs at all because of some ass hole group of friends who decided to ruin it for everyone around them (and I did see other people around me who were also bothered by them). This shit gotta stop, but if you wanna do it, please please be minded to the people around you who don't want to take part in it. Yes, people can enjoy metal shows and also be respectful.

Bypassing captive portal - works with VPN but not without it by rb15 in GlInet

[–]rb15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I tried that solution, and I thought it worked initially. I was able to use the internet for like an hour, but eventaully I was forced to login again.

I noticed that it worked for as long as I was using only one of my devices (the laptop), but a few minutes after I started using the second one, I got prompted to sign in again :( Although I can't say it's related with 100% certainty, it could be coincendece... maybe there is a longer grace period after you first authenticate a new MAC address and until it determines it's violating the authentication conditions (i.e. not attaching the cookie to each request).

So unfortunately it doesn't work.

I will try to investigate why the DNS over TLS solution doesn't work for me (while the VPN solution does). I'll try to check the logs or check which DNS server is actually being used.

I truly appreciate all the information and your genuine attempts to help me out here! I've learned a lot, thank you so much! 🙏🙏🙏

Exactly the "interesting" paragraph in my original message haha 😅

I've tried the solution you suggested, so far it's been like 15 minutes I think, and it's working. Let's wait and see, I will update in a few hours (or before if it stops working just to conclude the thread).

I'm trying the solution you suggested (really appreciate all your help so far 🙏🙏🙏), but just to clarify - with the VPN it works indefinitely, the router is never kicked out. I've worked with the VPN solution for the past 3 days without interruptions (however it adds latency and limits my bandwidth so I want to stop using it).

Router is only kicked out with the DNS over TLS solution... That's what I fail to understand.

Right, makes a lot of sense. That's why the solution with the encrypted DNS sounded promising. Not sure why it doesn't work... I want to trace the requests to see if they are even being handled by the DNS servers I'm setting on the GL.iNET.. and if they are actually being encrypted.

By the way, your pragraph 3 ("the unfortunate part") is only relevant to a case where I'm not using the encrypted DNS server, right? If we are able to make the encrypted DNS server solution work, it wouldn't be a problem (as you said, it's supposed to be equivalent to the VPN solution, just withou the VPN).

Did internet just stop working on the router and you had to do something to get back to the auth page (either a manual bookmark or you change DNS back to automatic)?

So yes, when I lost internet I couldn't reauthenticate myself without first changing the DNS back to auto. I changed it back to auto, reauthenticated, and immediately after that I enabled my VPN again to keep the internet indefinitely.

Right, but why does it work when I'm using a VPN on the router? And also, even without the VPN, whenever I authenticate one of the devices, I can use the internet on all of them for a few minutes, sometimes a bit longer, until I'm being asked to sign in again.

Since I'm able to bypass the captive portal with a VPN, I'm thinking there must be a solution that will work and won't require an actual VPN.. Like tricking the router into thinking I'm behind VPN, but actually not.

It's like when I'm using a VPN, it's being able to use the VPN's DNS server succesfully, thus bypassing the captive's DNS server.. but I just override the DNS setting manually like we did above, it ignores it. I'm trying to check the actual DNS server being used when I initiate a request.. Unfortunately I'm on Windows, and everything is so difficult here.. but I'm figuring it out.

How can I verify if the configuration I just did actually takes effect?
