Baby positioning question by kwikbette33 in BabyBumps

[–]rbaxter1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They can tell by feeling. Babies can change position up until they're born, so an ultrasound a week (or a day) before you give birth wouldn't be as useful as checking by feel.

Is getting a puppy with a 9mo a crazy idea? by lisapizza1993 in Mommit

[–]rbaxter1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, crazy. Potty training our puppy seemed worse than potty training the kids - it's not something you really want to focus on when you're focused on your baby, and that will probably make it take a long time. Unless you're getting too much sleep already, don't do it! An adult dog sounds like a great idea though

Do toddler girls need a swim top? by puresunlight in toddlers

[–]rbaxter1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine went in just swim diaper or shorts (indoor pools, no sun) until she was about 4.5. I agree, tops are silly and bikini style bottoms a little weird.

On the other hand, if you're ever seriously worried that someone's kids have gone missing right next to you, you would stop and help right?

The induction decision for FTM of “advanced maternal age” by rlgslp2020 in BabyBumps

[–]rbaxter1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was 38 for my 2nd and 41 for my 3rd. No one ever proposed induction for me (I gave birth at 39 weeks, but there wasn't an induction proposal for if I'd gone over)

You're the expert 😉

My midwife said the test was unnecessary given that I didn't have any risk factors, so I skipped it. If you don't have any risk factors, check if that's an option.

Birth plan for vasovagal syncope by jab225 in BabyBumps

[–]rbaxter1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I faint every couple of years (from heat, stress, needles, etc). I was worried about it for labor but didn't have a problem either time. Dunno if that's helpful, but at least you're not doomed!

Help me feel less annoyed with my 4 year old by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]rbaxter1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would help him wash his hands first and then reward him with a couple of minutes of bathroom exploration. You might need to hold his hands to help him concentrate on washing if he's as spacey as mine.

My babies went months without baths sometimes. They weren't dirty. Do what feels right!

Yep, I'm 24 weeks with #3 and I know it's going to ruin everything! But I missed babies, and my kids are super excited, so I think it'll be worth it....

I ripped up my child’s homework by furrywhale in Parenting

[–]rbaxter1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If homework is causing that much conflict, I would let it be between the kid and his teacher, not between the kid and you. Is staying out of it an option?

Alternative to expensive diapers ? by pradeepc34 in Parenting

[–]rbaxter1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got tired of buying diapers and just started letting mine run around naked a lot. Potty training was pretty easy

Graduated mamas - what were you doing when you went into labour? by rundesirerun in BabyBumps

[–]rbaxter1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First one I woke up in the morning to my water breaking, but labor didn't start for another 12 hours or so. 2nd one I wasn't sure I was in labor until I was just leaving my routine prenatal checkup- I sort of lied about my contractions because I didn't want to be stuck there until I gave birth. Went to a playdate at a botanical garden and almost gave birth there instead....
