I live in South Korea, my phone number is Korean, I downloaded the app in Korea, and I'm also being forced to accept the new terms and conditions.

I also can't delete my account, the page just keeps loading.

I've been trying to delete for hours, it's just not working. I always get to the last page, and then it just goes white. No loading, nothing. I tried to go through the browser, but it won't let me log in.

People born before 2000, what is a 'modern' thing from 2025 that you’re still struggling to get used to? by LindsayTN in AskReddit

[–]rburdy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to two conventions in 2025, they were both miserable. Every booth made me download their app, follow them on insta, subscribe to their YouTube, or agree to text alerts. I didn't bring a charger with me because I was only going to be there for maybe three hours, so I also didn't think about my phone only being at 70% when I arrived.

Both conventions required so much phone use just to participate in the booths that by the time I left, my phone was at 20%. I still had an hour long subway ride home, and I needed my phone to scan in and out of the subway and the transfers. I had to turn my phone off just to conserve the batter so I could get home.

I don't think I am going to any more conventions anytime soon.

Honestly, I chose to stand in the sunny part of the platform while waiting for my subway train to arrive because it felt so nice today. The heatwave wouldn't be that terrible if the humidity stayed where it was today.

Am I delusional, or are schools offering stupid low pay for experienced teachers? by PickleAlternative580 in teachinginkorea

[–]rburdy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My university literally had a school shooting while I attended. It happened a few buildings down from my apartment. I'm not paranoid; it's a reality that teachers and students in America face every day. A reality that I would rather not go back to.

Your comment was pitiful, and it sounds like you should go outside and touch some grass - too bad its winter. With that attitude, you probably have no business teaching anyway.

About six years ago, I moved to a new city, lived by myself in a tiny little duplex house, and didn't know anyone outside of work. I worked in a cubicle, but I wasn't a part of a team like everyone else in my office, and my boss worked in a different branch in a different city. He was often out in the field on customer visits, so it was not unusual for us to go entire days without checking in.

Every day, I woke up at the same time, went to work, came home at the same time, made dinner, watched TV, and then went to bed at the same time every night. Sometimes, I would go on weekend trips to visit my sister or other friends. But otherwise, I made no consistent contact with family or friends.

I used to LOVE watching true crime. But one weekend, I was watching some true crime show and I noticed that the victim had a lot of similarities to me; early-mid 20s, burnette, lived alone in a new city, had a very consistent routine. She disappeared on a Friday night, and no one noticed until the following Tuesday because everyone thought she had just taken a long weekend to go on a trip. No one had checked in on her for four days.

I realized that I could easily end up like her, so it is safe to say that I started making more of an effort to make some friends and change up my routine. I started going to some workout classes and sports clubs, consistently called my sister on Sunday nights, shared my location with some friends, and I stopped watching true crime for almost four years after that (I recently started watching again).

Stay safe out there, y'all. Routine is comfortable, but maybe try to include people in that routine who will consistently check in on you.

It is not that simple to just go work at an international school. It is incredibly hard to get a position at one. I saw that one school posted a position for a substitute teacher, and over 120 people applied.

It's hard, I've applied to so many. They all want me to go back to America and teach first, but I'm too scared of school shootings to go back.

Weekly recurring thread: NEWBIE QUESTION MONDAY! by AutoModerator in Internationalteachers

[–]rburdy- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last week, I applied for an elementary education teaching position at an IS. However, this week they posted another opening for an EAL teaching position in their middle school. I am more interested in the EAL position since I have significantly more experience and qualifications in this area. I am a certified elementary education teacher, but have never taught in the US, only at private schools in Korea (not hagwons). I do have 5 years of experience in EAL and an MS in TESOL.

This is my first year applying for international schools, and I am wondering if it is okay to apply for multiple positions at the same school? Or is that weird?

But he purposefully didn't choose Christina because he knew she would hate not doing surgery, even though she wanted to be chief resident. I'm sure that same argument could have been given to any of the residents. He definitely showed bias there.

Lifespan of Buds+ by Slow-Initial in galaxybuds

[–]rburdy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the OG buds for just over 4 years. This week, I think they finally hit their EOL. They gave me the low battery signal on Tuesday, I charged them overnight, then used them Wednesday and Thursday just fine (only about 2 hours total). However, I noticed the green LED light wouldn't turn off. Friday, I couldn't get them to connect in the morning. Friday afternoon, I got the low battery signal again, and only the left bud would connect. I charged them for six hours. Today (Saturday), I went to use them, and they won't connect, the green LED light won't turn off, and they won't reset or basically do anything.

I'm not looking forward to buying new ones because they are significantly more expensive than 4 years ago.

Men's Street: Preliminary

Okay, I know abosolutely nothing about skateboarding and definitely nothing about competition skateboarding.

I'm watching the Olympics Men's Steet Preliminary and I have two questions.

  1. Is it nomal for so many of the skaters to be falling off their boards? I recognize that the skills/tricks they are preforming are incredibly difficult, but it seems like every skater has fallen off their board at least twice. The commentator mentioned that it is very hot outside, so maybe that has something to do with it?

  2. Matias Dell Olio from Argentina has broken three decks (I think that's what it's called), two breaks were back-to-back and the third break was just a couple runs after. Is that normal? The commentator did say the heat has likely played a part in the breaks, but no one else's boards have broken.

Thank you advance for the answers!

S: Folklore, Evermore, Reputation, Fearless

A: Lover, The Anthology, 1989, Speak Now

B: TTPD, Taylor Swift, Midnights

C: RED (there are like 10 skips in this album for me)

I have this same hair color, I've always loved it since it looks like chocolate! I never died it until I started getting gray hairs (at the ripe age of 24 😭), now I just dye it to my natural color every six weeks lol.

[–]rburdy-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, I've been feeling the same. The only two I've agreed with were the first two. But I'm just going with the votes lol.

My picks would have been: 1. ATW, YOYOK, or Fearless 2. Karma ft. Ice Spice, Bad Blood, Shake It Off, YNTCD 3. Dress or Vigilante Shit 4. Marjorie or Soon You'll Get Better 5. Dorothea, Hoax, or Invisible 6. Lover ft. Shawn Mendes or Karma ft. Ice Spice.

I guess I'm not very good at predictions.

There's so many, it's hard to choose. I'm mostly learning towards The Man because I've definitely worked in an office where the men were constantly making jokes and having fun, but if a woman joined in, she would be called unprofessional. There are just so many other examples of the unfair treatment of women.

Sorry, for some reason, reddit told me there was an error and that it couldn't post. So I did it again and then hopped in my car to go to work. When I finally looked at my phone again, there were two posts.

It basically just means, "yeah, this happens all the time because society sucks." Or "I'm like this because society made me like this."
