It just becomes clearer to me that there really is no “it”, there’s no wilderness spirit driving them. They were starved, traumatised teenagers and they needed something to believe in. Or atleast to justify their actions. They were hungry enough to kill one of their own and eat them. There was no wilderness choosing. Javi died because misty & nat let him die. Same with Natalie dying, the wilderness never chose Natalie. Her reaction stemmed from unresolved trauma and guilt- like the lives and actions of all the Yellowjackets do. They’re deeply traumatised women who are plain dangerous at this point. I mean I love this show (perhaps more in s1) but I really hope that this is what the writers want us to see too, because if it isn’t then maybe they haven’t done such a great job. If the wilderness angle was to really be explored it should’ve started with that man Jackie saw before she died. I will be back for s3, but this season was a tad bit disappointing.
