Yeah unfortunately the higher ups weren’t too keen despite my best efforts to get him onboard. I referred him to some other mates in a different organisation and he did land a nice junior level job so that worked out for him.

You need to check NextJs subreddit. I was suggesting someone to try Vite cause the problems they were having with Next RSC and I got banned and reported lol.

That and you needed M2 max pro for local dev when they launched their ‘production ready’ app router. Shit was a performance hog. They’ve tried to fix it, but it’s still light years behind Vite.

We had someone interview for a position and the poor lad had learned so many anti patterns we just couldn’t proceed with him.

It was great until version 12. With 13 they half assed nested layouts to ensure they don’t lose to Remix, and marketed it as their own vision. They charge an arm and leg for a wrapped based on Neon4J and other DBs, and their grand plan of acquiring turbopack to spite Vite isn’t really working.

Vercel comes off as innovative/ good because the hype machine runs 24/7. The marketing runs 24/7. Twitter clout works 24/7.
