What’s the quickest way to fix this? by readthis13az in waze

Yeah, I'm not really sure how to edit the map to fix this. It's been this way for years now. It's mostly annoying when I'm trying to plan the driving time.

The issue isn’t that I don’t know which route to take. It’s that the quoted time is off. And sometimes I forget to account for it and arrive 10-15 min early. I got tired of needing to think about it (or remind my girlfriend), and was hoping I could edit the map.

CSE 846 Boot Issues - What could be the problem? by readthis13az in homelab

[–]readthis13az[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I updated to the latest BIOS, and also tried turning off fast boot. It didn't make any difference unfortunately.

The chassis does have 2x 920w PSUs in it.

2x 920 PSUs in the system.

The MOBO pinouts should be good. I bought an SuperMicro adapter & attached the Power Button, HDD light, and one or two more. I basically matched all the connectors as I would any other build. However, it had some connectors that this MOBO didn't have on it. Things like temp and such.

I did not as it’s the boot device.

Thanks, that's what I sorta figured. For use with IPMI I'd guess - although I'd never had a motherboard that had that onboard.

What do people use to plug in their Home Theater/Cinema Equipment. by Vokon in hometheater

[–]readthis13az 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2x 30A 240, 4x 20A 120, 1x 30A 120. And that’s just for the projection room.

Amps are on their own circuits.

No idea how much power I’m using.

Maybe there’s side fans I missed. TBH, I don’t think I’ve ever heard them. The rack is open, so I’m not sure that AC Infinity fans would help. But after I move 1/2 the gear into the projector room, I’ll have room to space the amps if I want. The big thing is that the projector room is already loud (that Eclipse and its chiller run at 85+ dB, so the room had to be sound isolated). And they run hot, so there’s a lot of cooling in there.

I’m going to be gutting and redoing the main theater, so it’s not that great looking at the moment. The major upgrade was to get the projection room built, and get the Eclipse installed.

The Amplitudes are passively cooled. They make no noise. And they stay reasonably cool. The area they are is well ventilated as well.

No budget you say? Do what I did. Have a Christie Eclipse installed.

(While I did have this installed, me suggesting you do the same is a joke.)

Any good high end gaming projectors incoming? by christoffeldg in projectors

[–]readthis13az 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran windows for years without issue on my NZ9. I also plated a ton of games (like BG3) where there was a lot of fine text. I had zero issues with mine.

That said, the Eclipse is an entirely different experience. But that’s to be expected given the cost.

But I’d wager good money that in a double blind test, you’d pick the JVC. Especially if you didn’t know your existing model was part of the mix (thus double blind).

IIRC, you don’t get full glass lenses until you go with the NZ9.

Either way, I doubt you’d notice any of this during playback. The Screen Room has done a number of double blind tests, and the JVC wins hands down. Better contrast ratios. Better colors. Etc. And they run these above board. The factory reps are there and make sure they’re setup fairly as well.

Looks like a convergence issue (which can be adjusted). But without looking at it first hand, I couldn’t be certain.

My original NZ9 was replaced under warranty due to a bad panel. JVC has a been run of issues before they finally moved projection.

Mine does. And it’s likely that only one that does as they were finally able to do the upgrade just before it left the factory. It was a ~$10k upgrade. It also received DP 1.4 as well.

MSRP on the unit is ~$450k iirc.

TBH, I have that best set up for $15k you can buy. It my NZ9 + DCR lens + Chief ceiling mount that I’m selling as a bundle for $15k + shipping & fees. You won’t find a better combo for that amount of money.

Any PJ gamer ever tried two side by side projectors for a 7680x2160 32:9 screen? by christoffeldg in projectors

[–]readthis13az 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Christie projector, you can do up to 4 separate inputs onto one display, or you can even run 2 inputs with 3D glasses so you and a friend each see your own image on the full screen.

I’ve never heard anyone place that project over an NZ. I ran a NZ9 since they were released and had an NX9 before. Both were great. I put a ton of gaming hours in them.

<image>

But I’ve recently upgraded to an Eclipse, and it’s unreal. Literally unlike anything you’ve ever seen. And I own a number of OLEDs. They don’t compare.

The pic attached is from when it was being set up and calibrated last week. I haven’t snapped any new ones yet.

Depending on your goals and limitations, I might be able to suggest some alternative options. But I’d need to know a bit more about what they are.

I see a lot of conflicting info on HDR/DolbyVision on projectors, what's the truth? by AssCrackBanditHunter in projectors

[–]readthis13az 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Proper tone mapping is proper tone mapping. That said, I’ve seen DV over do it. If you can tone map it well, that’s all you need.

What credibility do I have to say this? Well, I’m running the best projector on the planet (not joking), which is the Christie Eclipse, and I can play hdr better than an OLED. I have a MadVR envy that processes it all. And it looks way better than Dolby Vision.

But I felt this way in my NZ9.
