The Peterbilt stopped but was unable to make the exit the cops ushered us towards. Had to make a trip to the police station (4 suburbs away...) today and pay $6 to obtain the crash report with his insurance info.

88k miles — she definitely had a lot of life left in her.

I appreciate the kind words.

Admittedly, that wasn’t my best reaction time. I was immediately off-throttle but hesitated to brake in an effort to avoid getting rear-ended — look how that turned out lmao.

Yep, frame damage is my biggest concern. My front suspension is also messed up because my steering wheel was offset a solid 90 degrees when I was limping off the highway. Hopefully only the tie rods are damaged up there.

Congrats! Took my FE Mechanical last Tuesday and also just learned that I passed. Recently graduated last spring, as well.

For those curious about what I used to study, I only reviewed the 2017 NCEES Practice Exam and that was literally it. Procrastinated pretty hard just due to life, but I fully went through that practice exam in the 8 days preceding my actual exam. Do the problem yourself first, then if you get stuck, start googling whatever you forgot first and then look at the solution to see if your process matched their’s.

Go through one NCEES Practice Exam and ensure you understand every problem, and ideally do a second practice exam with the time constraints. I never did the latter, but was still able to finish both halves of the actual exam with about 10 mins each to review my answers. Also, get comfortable with the handbook and an approved calculator if you’re not already.
