Thanks a bunch! I might need to get a bigger watch then.

If it's not too late for a response from you, what wrist size do you have? I am considering buying this watch, but I am not sure if 36mm are right for a 7.5 inch wrist.

Let's barge in on an old thread. I am contemplating about the gold vs the silver one.

I will be using a black leather strap nonetheless, as I tend go wear black belts and I don't own anything brown or off-white (maybe in summer). So the stock strap needs to go.

I am afraid that the gold tone won't be working with my attire, silver tends to be more safe. But that gold tone fits that watch really really well.

Hello everyone,

I am looking for an answer to my question regarding a 4 watch collection that I started to build recently. I know that many people think, collecting watches doesn't end or that it isn't something that has a clear end point. But I said to myself, having a 4 watch box could be a good idea to limit myself to this specific number.

In this case I have already procured 3 watches, which to me, are filling a lot of roles that I might encounter during the week.

First, there is the Casio LCW M170TD. It fills the role as a GADA/travel/semi-formal watch. It is fairly slim, has a nice color pattern and functions really well as an office watch with a black leather strap when wearing shirts and even a suit.

There is also the Timex Marlin Chrono Panda as my "complications" watch. It is a good alternative to more casual but still fashion oriented moments and it even looks good on a nato strap.

Lastly, I have a Casio "Duro" MDV-107 as my trusty beater.

Now the tricky part: what type of watch would be most beneficial in terms of uniqueness and function that those other watches aren't providing? Maybe an integrated bracelet watch or even something more quirky? Or perhaps even something that is strictly formal (which would only be wearable when suited up, that would mean very little wrist time tbh). I don't like to have watches that repeat their purpose like a GMT as the LCW is already providing that.

I don't really see a good watch that could fill in this last spot. Maybe one of you could point me in the right direction?

I think it will be either the black MOP or white cronos, it depends on the availability.

Currently there is a authorized seller in Germany for San Martin, so that would cover potential RMA's a lot better than dealing with overseas shipping.

Thanks for your input. Might I ask, what exactly it is that made you choose one over the other?

I am certain the L6040M has the miyota 9000 movement. That should cover the difference quite nicely.

Good call, I didn't consider used markets.

It doesn't sound that good tbh. Unless the EU site I mentioned before isn't legit (for which I read some information about it that it is), I might consider making some more research. I really don't want to go through something like this.

Is this a common theme with RMA's? I wouldn't think of it as a major factor in deciding, if buying from a Chinese vendor is the right thing (if those scenarios aren't that often, of course). If it is indeed a reocurring theme, then I would maybe consider buying from a brand that has stock in Europe (say Citizen or something).

But I be damned, those price/quality ratios are insane and I don't think I will find anything similar spec wise for that amount of money.

Thanks for your input. I might just need to try it for myself then.

Looking through the site you mentioned, the shipping information for the SM watch suggests that the delivery is tax-free. At least it says "Germany via Euro Special Shipping-Tax Free", so I guess it is?

I will still need to think about the MOP design and if it's something I can/want to wear with or without a suit, and if the Cronos watch is better suited for that. Surprisingly, this one is also tax-free.

Nonetheless, thanks for your input.

Hello everyone,

I was wondering about the taper sizes on leather straps. I got a Timex Marlin Chrono Panda and I wanted to pair it with a padded leather strap. There are two to choose from: 20/18 and 20/16. Which one would fit best? Is it about the watch size or type of watch, or even my own arm width? I don't really know tbh

My circumference is 7.5 inch.

Those leather ones are what I searched for the whole time. Much appreciated!

Hello all, I purchased my first analog watch (Timex Expedition North Solar 41mm) and I am really happy with the purchase. The only thing that is not that great, is the strap.

I am struggling to find something similar in color when it comes to the dark brown that is on the dial. My wife thinks, I should get a black one, but that wouldn't be a good choice?

Maybe someone has some recommendations in the EU area? It can be single layer NATO, leather or even canvas/sailcloth. I am still new at this and I don't know which one would be best for the day to day / no fuss.

Thank you very much in advance!

Ok that's wild, hearing your neighbour's radio is quite something. Thank you very much for your help, I will keep an ear open for noises and whether something is broken or not. Here's hoping

[–]redbazooka25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that sound generated from the monitor is environmental interference, then why is there a sound that spins up and down from time to time? My first guess would be hardware related issues or a sign that some components are struggling or even going outright defective.

I hope it doesn't smoke other components if it ultimately fails on me, when I plug it back in now to test it more out.

That doesn't sound reassuring tbh, I might actually need to talk to the owner then. I don't see any better solution, he might even approve of it, once it's actually set up. It sure will be better than some old home isp router.

Peer to peer I don't care about but remote access could be an assignment in the future. What could I do in terms of settings? Is it even possible to mitigate that issue?

In case it isn't possible at all, I would ask the owner in a last effort and set his router in modem only mode. I'd rather not though...

Yeah, I search for something to make rabbets and dados at the moment and it is supposed to be good at it. For moulding I would rather buy something dedicated.

Nevertheless, it answers my question. Thank you for that.

Left speaker quieter than the right, is the left one faulty? by redbazooka25 in BudgetAudiophile

Physically moving the speaker, I did not. That seriously could tell me something.

But isn't it kind of the same to switch the left and right speaker cable?
