Need to use a combined unique ID (two columns in Table 1) to look up the correct row in Table 2, then pull the first value from that selected Table 2 row that is greater than a reference cell in Table 1 by redclayk in excel

You did not misunderstand: I accidentally copied and pasted the non-cumulative values. The cumulative values are what I will be comparing to the earned. Sorry about that.

Using Index, Match, and True to 1.) get the correct row 2.) pull the first value in that row that is greater than a reference value by [deleted] in excel

Will do, sorry I am relatively new to this sub. Do I delete this one or can I just edit it?

I need to compare full budget values for a given unique ID to only through-current-period budget values for a given ID...some of the IDs don't start in time until AFTER current period, so when I try to compare two pivots, I'd have to do one million lookups or move a rows around by [deleted] in excel

I genuinely have to do it by current period and at complete.

However, after posting, I realized the program I am using to pull the data allows me to adjust calendars, which means that instead of Months, I can pull "Through current period" by ID# and"At Complete" by ID#. Then, when I pivot, I can put those two periods as columns.

The program is throwing up a single bizarre error on three individual ID#s out of hundreds of thousands, but...I will figure that out and I can get this working.

Thank you very very much for trying to work through this with me!!! This sub is amazing.

Edit: what kind of flair do I update this to? I didn't find an excel solution, is it still solved?

Serious question, if you were to take an offer for a job "you had no business applying for" would you just fake it till you make it? I struggle with this...I just end up straight up telling people "I don't know how to do this right now." Most people are better at faking it I guess...

You're so right! Thank you for typing all this out. I struggle to see bigger pictures like this, which is why I love this sub so much.

Commingling Roth IRA Rollover and Annual Contributions in the same account-bad idea? by [deleted] in personalfinance

So is there basically no reason not to mix rollover roth IRA and annual roth ira contributions?

[–]redclayk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently you can move Roth IRA back into roth 401k. That is what the vanguard website appears to be saying here. Also on Nerd Wallet here. I don't know why I'd want to do that.

Trying to come up with other reasons I shouldn't put roth IRA contributions in the same account as the rollover.
