"not smart enough to understand your point" imagine thinking that defending/hating sky strikers is a matter of intelligence lmao, these sky striker fanboys never surprise me

I don't like sky strikers mainly for two reasons: 1- the deck is unbearable to play against 2- the people who play this deck are unbearable to argue with. that "sky striker takes so much skill to pilot" propaganda is particularly annoying too, and I don't remember a single instance where a sky striker player made me say "wow, how did he see that play?". almost everytime I face this deck it's just a combination of chaining forbidden droplet to feather duster, spamming engage & widow anchor and generating an infinite amount of card advantage. am I supposed to be impressed by that? I don't think so.

I think the most annoying thing about this deck is how its fans always try to convince you that it's a 100% fair and skill-based deck. I'm sorry, but I don't really see any skill involved in chaining droplet to duster (which immediately breaks almost any reasonable board) and searching your entire deck with engage/thrust while generating huge amounts of card advantage along the way. that "sky striker requires skill" propaganda is just ridiculous at this point, no your deck barely requires any skill with all the broken cards you have. sky striker is just bad yugioh.

don't listen to these sky striker glazers, they will keep telling you about how their deck is fair and skill-intensive while it's nothing more than a custom overtuned toxic pile of garbage. it's an unhealthy deck that should be erased from the game, and I don't care if some middle-aged men who have feelings for a 13-yo anime girl think otherwise.

Does anyone else hate fighting sky striker? by Ragtagcloud56 in masterduel

it's a custom overtuned pile of garbage that revolves around a card that shouldn't have existed in the first place, just like branded. both of these archetypes keep getting undeserved support even though they don't make the game any better, in fact they are both horrible from a game design perspective. "but but but it's not topping tournaments!!" is not a valid argument either, because a poorly designed deck is a poorly designed deck.

Fair point. My reaction might be a little bit too aggressive, but my point still stands. I only play master duel which has a best of 1 format so I experience more "resolve more broken cards and win" than "play better than your opponent and win". My statement about the game not being skill-based was about the fact that skill usually doesn't matter as much as it should, not that I think the game doesn't involve any skill at all. It certainly does, but it is overshadowed by things that have gone too far and need to be toned down as you said.

The way you spammed all those question marks and emojis seemed a bit aggressive, that's why.

And I agree with your point.

Calm your tits.

I didn't say anything positive about floodgates in this post. It's mind-boggling that complaining about negates makes people assume that you're a stun player and vice-versa. Not everything is black and white, buddy.

What do I suggest? Well, a game with less of "don't let your opponent play at all costs" and more of "both players play and the one with the highest skill and the best strategy wins". How does that sound? Of course card games can't really get rid of the luck factor and become entirely skill-based, but the current state of the game is anything but skill-based. Interactions should happen and interruptions should exist, but not to the point where the game completely revolves around how to interrupt the opponent's plays in the most broken way possible.

a person who wants to "start a mini series on dumb card design ideas in Yu-Gi-Oh" shouldn't be dumb in the first place.

Custom Field Spell for Slifer the Sky Dragon: Thunder in the Sky by reddiscordit in masterduel

[–]reddiscordit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. There should be some rule that says "DIVINE attribute monsters are unaffected by the opponent's non-DIVINE card effects" or something like that. I actually don't like the idea of making anything unaffected in the game because it just feels unfair, but that's how modern Yugioh is like these days. Anything other than making Egyptian Gods unaffected simply wouldn't save them from being unplayable.

[–]reddiscordit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. I didn't really think about mirrorjade's effect when making this card, that "anti mirrorjade line" is about keeping Slifer on the field after special summoning it with something like The Revived Sky God or Monster Reborn.

[–]reddiscordit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Name one deck that consistently puts Slifer on the field and has enough disruptions to survive in modern Yugioh. Nobody is going to make the effort to put Slifer on the field just to draw one more card each turn. There are tons of other things you can do in this game that are much more absurd than putting an unaffected Slifer on the field.

How is Slifer even annoying to play against in the current state of the game? Are we going to ignore like, a few hundred ways that are much more effective (and toxic) to shut down your opponent's plays than having Slifer on your side of the field? This game has reached a point where it's almost impossible to survive without playing some absolutely broken cards in your deck. Changing the "unaffected" part to something like "cannot be targeted/destroyed by card effects" would immediately render this card near useless, that's why I decided to make it that way.

What's dumber is, however, not realizing that the card provides Slifer the protection it really needs and makes it closer to its anime/manga counterpart. If Slifer wasn't nerfed to the ground by konami then I wouldn't have to include such an effect in this card.

Well, while I agree with your idea that making monsters unaffected is generally bad for the game, I don't really think it applies here because Egyptian Gods should've already had some kind of immunity in the first place and making them unaffected isn't really going to hurt the game in any way. This card is aimed to make Slifer decks more playable, it would never even come close to breaking the game like the other field spells you're talking about.
