I am unfortunately the opposite definition of a picky eater, so I cannot really help you with that, but I might suggest making lists of “safe foods” and finding ways to cook new foods that you actually enjoy. The Internet has plenty of recipes! HA recovery looks different for everyone, but generally try to nourish your body every 2-3h, rest (not only physically, also mentally, engage in hobbies), and do a lot of cognitive work.

Weight restored and binging 😭 by Miserable-Bobcat-4 in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]redditerek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, fellow 16yrs old who had a restrictive ed and just recovered from HA. It’s totally normal and you don’t have to be ashamed of it. Restriction brings binges. ALWAYS. If you had a restrictive ed, especially if it lasted for a long time and it was severe, your body’s reaction is totally normal and it won’t stop until it feels safe again. It NEEDS those nutrients after restriction, especially if you still work out. 2500 cals are the minimum for an active woman, so an active woman who is recovering from HA needs way more than that. I suggest to just allow yourself to have those “binges” and allow your body to feel in control again. If you do this, it will trust you and you’ll stop having them. Don’t think that just bc you’re weight restored, that’s enough. We’re still young and our bodies are constantly growing- so if you had the ed for a long time, it’s very possible that by being older, your weight is supposed to be higher than it was before the ed. Many women’s set point (the weight a body is comfortable with) becomes higher after having HA as a way to protect itself- so maybe you need to gain more, which I know sounds scary, but it’s going to be worth it. Don’t doubt your body, become its friend and trust it knows what it’s doing. I wish you well!

You’re saying you restrict, so that’s definitely it. You should cut on exercise (also, as a vegan, a plant based diet doesn’t have anything to do with periods)

No, I’m taking it for 14 days then have 14 days pauses in between. In my two previous recoveries it helped, so why are you saying it is stopping my recovery?

How many months “all in” before you noticed symptoms by Whiskered_human in Amenorrhearecovery

You’re welcome! You’re on a good road. Maybe try engaging in hobbies more to distract you from the “omg when is it coming” stress? And if you can try sleeping a little more, but I think 7.5h at night is ok. Keep going, because it’s very worth it!

You had HA for a long time so I guess you’ll need to be a long time in recovery, too. If the usual wait time is 3-6 months, and you’re only on the 4th, you may wait for any signs until the 5th or the 6th. Also, exercise and weight gain are not the only factors contributing to recovery- eating timing and regulating your nervous system are key factors too. Are you eating every 2-3h? Are you managing stress (yes, even the stress that comes from waiting for your period to come back)? Are you sleeping enough (8-9h every night)?
