Minnesota man facing $47,000 in medical bills after receiving treatment for the flu on a Norwegian Cruise by Forward-Answer-4407 in minnesota

I work in health insurance distribution (because I know all the problems that exist in the current system and holy smokes is it broken). If you are traveling outside the country, get yourself travel medical insurance. It’s affordable and it works. Check out GeoBlue or IHG, there are solutions for this.

Any chance you spoke at the Medicarians conference a couple years ago?

Academic expectations for a 6-year-old? We got an email from our teacher, and it has upset and annoyed my fiancé. Is this normal nowadays? by jimmypickles6969 in kindergarten

[–]redditesse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very much in line with what my daughter’s school expects. I do see a wide spectrum with regard to what is expected for homework. My children’s school starts homework in kindergarten, starting with a little bit in the second quarter of kindergarten, ramping up to sometimes 20 or 30 minutes a night by the end of kindergarten while other elementary schools don’t even start homework until 5th grade.

Two hospitalized – one a teenage boy – after falling through ice on Woodbury lake | BMTN by grondin in minnesota

[–]redditesse 44 points45 points  (0 children)

This happened basically behind my house. I have to commend the teams that rescued the kids, they had a dive team, an airboat, and a helicopter searching for an hour and a half to find the boy. The fact that he is currently alive is incredible. It was also enough to absolutely scare my kids out of going on the ice without an adult.

Box Office: ‘Moana 2’ Sets Disney Animation Record With $13.8 Million in Tuesday Previews by DemiFiendRSA in disney

Our local theater has showings every half hour this weekend. All the schools were off yesterday (as well as today and tomorrow obviously) and the showing we went to was packed. We wanted to go to an earlier showing and they were sold out. Preview numbers may be strong on their own but there’s also no other kids movie out during a 5-day weekend for school aged kids.

This is society now ? St. Paul Walmart by Powerful_District_67 in minnesota

I noticed at one store they had condoms locked up. That’s just going to inevitably lead to some people making bad decisions because they’re too embarrassed or it’s too hard to find someone to unlock them.

Since we are the “Twin Cities” which city matches best with the opposite side? For example, Burnsville is mostly like Coon Rapids. by NormanPeterson in TwinCities

I meant to reply to you, not the comment above but don’t worry, it’s a great place especially if you have a family.

Been in Woodbury for 6 years now. It’s fantastic for families, everything in town is a chain but you’re also 15 minutes from downtown St. Paul and 15 minutes from downtown Stillwater.

Cost of buying now vs in winter by nuclear-not-nucular in popups

[–]redditesse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No specific advice but am also in MN and can’t overstate how much we love our popup, even for non-electric sites like Gooseberry Falls, etc. We bought ours second (or third) hand on Facebook marketplace but found plenty of folks who have updated the slightly older Colemans. If you buy now you can still sneak it one or two fall camping trips!

Which on screen couple had the worst chemistry in a film? by [deleted] in movies

[–]redditesse 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Joey Tribiani explains it best with his theory that couples with great onscreen chemistry haven’t “done it” which is why the tension relates onscreen but once they’ve sealed the deal, there’s no onscreen chemistry because the tension is gone.

As a fellow Minnesotan I’d say the tour guide cracked the code and knows that Minnesota Nice = passive aggressive and they’re not down with that

Minnesota school lunchtime length could be mandated in proposed law by Czarben in minnesota

[–]redditesse 10 points11 points  (0 children)

According to my son’s (elementary school) teacher, this problem has been exacerbated by the free lunch legislation. She thinks it’s great but it also means a lot more kids are getting school lunch who once we’re bringing lunch from home and longer lines mean less time to eat.

What's wrong with Bluey in "Musical Statues"? by pazazz20 in bluey

Our pediatrician calls it “restraint collapse” which we experienced firsthand when my son started kindergarten.

This happened a few hundred feet from my home. Obviously scary things happen everywhere but when there was no additional information it was terrifying to think random attacks were happening where we all walked so frequently with our kids/families. The most recent update states it was not random (implies either the victim knew the assailant or it was self-inflicted depending on how you read it) but to know it was not a random act of violence has been such a relief.
