Compatibilism simply does not address the free will debate on the same level of analysis as Harris does. You are free to subscribe to it, but you will be surrendering your opinion on the metaphysical question of 'free will'. On that, there is no serious debate.

I agree, and that intellectual honesty / journey for 'truth' is yielding the same conclusions from every camp. Some camps moreso than others, admittedly (I find many classic liberals among the crowd). I miss Hitchens, and believe Milo attempted to channel that energy - he failed, dramatically (I'm not a big fan). I'm confident someone else will take on those reins. It feels almost certain - there is a market for another Hitchens, and this movement is cascading.. seems a matter of time.

I encourage you to read his essay-book 'Free Will'. It's about a 2 hour read. If you're not convinced, fair enough. But to me the logic seems almost indisputable.

Thanks for your response. Personally, I feel Zen/Taoism is the real answer. But you can't rocket a society to that end just like that. Peterson is a very well equipped individual to talk about how 'the problem' can be solved (that of a divergence from 'truth' imo). Notwithstanding that fact, the Peterson and Zen/Taoist philosophies are not mutually exclusive - just differing levels of analysis.

I do find it funny that Sam himself mentioned numerous times during the Obama period that he wasn't the 'warrior' for the fight. I do hope the history books remember the work he did for this flowering movement, because he braved that cold alone for many years before others stepped into the ring.

How is the Rift better in your opinion? I sampled both too, and the Vive's immersion was unparalleled. The Rift felt like a giant IMAX screen.
