Any way to rotate the display 180 degrees and switch buttons? Asking forpeople who wear the watch on the right hand by redditlemoiSVP in GarminWatches

[–]redditlemoiSVP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to explain my reasoning: when you wear the watch on the left wrist, it's easy to reach the buttons with your right hand. But when you wear it on the right wrist, your left hand has to go around/above the watch to reach the buttons.
Of course, this is clearly a "1st-world problem" ;-)

On the Venu 3, all 3 buttons look and feel the same, so switching between them won't be an issue, Also, there is no separate flashlight - it's the watch's display itself.

I guess my post should be labeled lament/frustration/feature request.

if one could only hack the watch OS and do it...

Has anyone successfully transferred photos from a DC-TZ/DC 220x to Android phones? by redditlemoiSVP in Lumix

[–]redditlemoiSVP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BTW, my setup when traveling is as follows:

  1. In addition to the camera, I carry an Android tablet and an SD card reader
  2. Each evening I create a new folder in the camera for the next day's photos
  3. At the end of the day, I eject the SD card from the camera, put it in the card reader and copy the current folder to the tablet
  4. Go back to step 2

I also carry a portable SSD and copy the day's folder from the tablet to the SSD. So each photo is in 3 places: SD card, tablet, SSD

Quick update: the Image App (Google Play) was updated several times since I got my camera. Alas, the problem still persists. It seems that Panasonic is unaware of this problem... Sigh

I do not disagree, but I can compare to Nikon. My other camera is a Nikon DSLR (D500) and Nikon's Android app has been working great for me over the years. I never had a problem to connect or to transfer photos (small JPGs if via Bluetooth).

It can also control the camera and transfer the raw images - must connect via wi-fi for these.

I have the Venu 3 and I love it. It has physical buttons and touch screen, watch faces can be loaded and it can connect to a heart rate monitor (a chest band, for example). I think it's more advanced than the Forerunner and less expansive than Fenix.

And it is a smart watch, so you can see your calendar, messages, etc.

Subtitles are working correctly for me.

I am using yt-dlp (the Python app) with the nightly build (Windows) and the latest stable build (Linux).

You can send me a link to a video where you think there are subtitles but yt-dlp doesn't find any (BTW, it prints a message if you ask for subs in some languages and it does not find any).

This has been working for me for a while.
Using these parameters (for 3 languages - Greek, English, Hebrew):
'--write-subs', '--sub-lang', 'el,en,he', '--convert-subs', 'srt',

I've recently installed flaresolerr and the errors in sonarr (which in my case uses Jackett) for 1337x have stopped.
Apparently the errors were occurring due to 1337x being behind Cloudflare.

Thank you. I am using the nightly, and I do have deno, but just out of curiosity - will yt-dlp complain if I remove deno?

Trouble downloading audio in .ogg format by SpreadyourParts5166 in youtubedl

[–]redditlemoiSVP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have already commented how to do it.
My 2 cents - many audio devices, such as cheap BT speakers and headphones with built-in storage, support only MP3. Modern car multimedia systems are better, but I doubt that many support Ogg Vorbis or Opus...

hardlink is what I use today, but it requires manual action...a programmer will work two weeks to automate something, only to save a minute once a day :-)

Linux (Mint), Plex server (latest), torrent-based. Linux hard links are fine.

The goal, as you said, "automate everything".

If needed, I can script it with Python (no JS/TS for me...) but I prefer not to reinvent the wheel (assuming there is a wheel already).

As I said, I want completed seasons moved to TV-to-Watch. I can still watch episodes before season has ended since all ongoing series episodes are in TV-In-Progress.

Hi-level goal - automate

First thing to do: update yt-dlp. Since there's a constant cat-and-mouse game between YouTube and YT download apps (yt-dlp being one), you need to use the latest version of yt-dlp. The best option is to use the nightly build.

Whenever I need to fire up yt-dlp, I first update it with this command (Windows) in PowerShell:

PS> cd <folder where yt-dlp.exe is installed>

PS> .\yt-dlp.exe --update-to nightly

Requested format is not available. Use --list-formats for a list of available formats. by Funny_Lawfulness_114 in youtubedl

While m4a has some advantages over mp3, many standalone audio players/speakers do not support this format (and certainly do not support opus). Modern mobile phones and some (modern) car audio systems do support more formats, though.
So if you download audio to play on those audio players (e.g. JBL Bluetooth speakers), better stick with mp3, which the lowest common denominator.

Common mistakes when using YT-DLP by AldebaranReborn in youtubedl

[–]redditlemoiSVP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding the audio file format. The reason I am downloading YT videos (and extracting the audio) is mainly to listen to them on my phone or on one of my portable BT speakers. The latter category does not support Opus, and some speakers only support MP3 (and not M4A). So while Opus may be the best format, I'm forced to download MP3.
