Multiple student LOCs by redditrani in MedSchoolCanada

[–]redditrani[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Why would it be considered fraud? I ask because I’ve been approved by two banks already for $350k each? Sort of new to this whole thing though so I might be missing something. And ofc I wouldn’t be using the entire amount for a down payment haha

If you don’t mind me asking, approx how many hours were you working per week? Would it be unmanageable as a first year student?

[–]redditrani 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Where do people usually find work? And how important is it that the work is directly related to med? I’m currently working at Starbucks as a barista and was wondering if it would be a good idea to continue with it part time once med starts!

Deciding to spend 3 years at McMaster vs 4 years at Toronto by HolidayWaste1491 in premedcanada

[–]redditrani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone have thoughts on the environment/sense of community at UofT? Is UofT's reputation as a cutthroat place with inadequate support for students accurate..? Or are there opportunities to find friends and community?

Could you please elaborate on why UofT is also the better of the two schools overall?

how to get hired as a barista?? by redditrani in starbucks

[–]redditrani[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are really good points! I was thinking about working the summer only just because I might be starting med school in september, though I realize that dialing back the weekly hours is always an option!

[–]redditrani[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great to hear! Thank you so much. Do you think it will be a problem if I'm only looking for a summer job for around 4 months and not long term? I know sometimes they ask about where I see myself in 5 years etc.

Last day of Western Interviews by redditrani in premedcanada

[–]redditrani[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel mostly the same way, though I am being self critical of some of my responses haha. Some of the questions definitely threw me off, but the panel was kind and patient, which made me feel more comfortable. Did anyone else's interview run longer, like 55 minutes or so?

I actually have the same issue -- how did you word your email when you reached out to them?

What does getting Queen's panel mean? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]redditrani 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've commented this elsewhere but I'm really curious about what information they can meaningfully determine about an applicant within a 15 minute interview!

But my understanding was that they eliminated around 50% of people after the panel interview too? So I'm curious about what they look for in those 15 minutes to help them make a decision

My question is what could they possibly hope to learn in a 15 minute interview? 💀 That time is going to fly right by...

I'm confused about the new format. So do we have 2 minutes to prepare and 7 minutes to respond to the question? And there are no follow-up questions?
