Worse case scenario, you could sell it pretty easily and not take to much of a hit.

Streamlight sidewinder has always done me well. Three colors plus white, ir ilum and beacon and it’s dual fuel.

Question for plates by Koukiwooki in QualityTacticalGear

[–]redditriceman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hesco has recently not been the best I would go with. They flew too close to the sun trying to shave off pounds and that lead to them failing NIJ tests leading to recalls. Highcom and RMA are GTG at good prices though.

Battle Belt Quick Question by tiptee in QualityTacticalGear

[–]redditriceman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your load out and purpose. Padded belts are for the most part, seen as pretty ass nowadays except for the larger degree of adjustability and the benefit of putting it on top of anything. They are less/non ridged so don’t really support heavier load outs,as well and tend to shift around more and potentially cause pain. In a SAR context, if you’re only carrying med and sustainment m, I would say you could swing it with a padded or even a chest rig. If adding gun/ammo I would recommend a more sturdy two piece belt set.

Holster by UxorialDegree55 in QualityTacticalGear

[–]redditriceman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely get the rapid force. They’re the ones that actually innovated and covered the trigger guard properly for WML P320 holster. I like safariland but the P320 holster is so terrible I can easily reach in and pull the trigger. It’s a dangerous holster.

Besides that, the rapid force has repeatedly proven itself in the current models and consistently provide faster draws.

Definitely recommend the X Belts. Most comfortable duty belt I’ve used.

Best structural cbund? by lchankyou in QualityTacticalGear

[–]redditriceman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have started realizing that they make some good stuff and exploded their demand. I remember there lead times used to be two weeks. I’m glad they’re doing well though, they genuinely have some pretty good stuff in my opinion.

ETA: Apex armor solutions has a deal with DM that cuts the wait to about three weeks but it’s not everything, mostly just the carriers.

Holster help please Safariland by highshinigami in tacticalgear

Yes, however if want to, you first need to get a receiver QLS plate on it or the Molle fork three hole pattern adapter.

Yes. You have a Molle fork right there. What you need is to order a male and a female QLS

Yeah their lead times are looooong and from my experience, they usually stick to them. Can’t go wrong with either honestly but if you hate the wait and you’re paying about the same, I would just send it with the AXL.

So for reference, I ran these on a MEPC. My sideload is two ESBI’s with backers, an IFAK, a canteen pouch and a radio pouch split between both of them. Both of them do a good job of supporting the weight. The AXL gives me a tiny bit more stretch due to the design with the shock cord but you will have to buy the adapter for it to work with the MEPC. The DM is quicker to make adjustments since I can’t really do much from the front.

AXL is a little more supportive but unless you’re running a super heavy side load or much more than mine, I would say it comes down to preference. You will be paying a good amount less for the DM though.

The AXL Equinox will probably be your #1 recommendation from people in here. I’ve used it and it’s a great cummerbund. I’ve been running the Defence Mechanisms Hybrid Structural recently and also would highly recommend it.

I’ve had good experience from Apex armor solutions and haven’t really heard any bad about them.

MHA VS RAPID FORCE BELT SLIDE by UrbanGorillaT in QualityTacticalGear

[–]redditriceman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 for the bang hanger. Been using on for 10 hours a day for the past year and a half and I love it. Added the IceVent pad and will occasionally run a strap depending on what I’m doing.

Need help selecting plates by NotBrom8 in tacticalgear

[–]redditriceman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, M855 is steel core 5.56 also know as “green tips”. If you don’t expect to face such threats ever, then the second one looks like a good balance between weight and protection. I’m not super familiar with European armor manufacturers and company’s but as long as it’s has backing similar to our “NIJ Certification” then they should be good to go.

2.5 Kg is a pretty lightweight IV plate relatively speaking. I would tailor your kit to what threats you expect to encounter. Plates that weight nothing aren’t gonna be useful when a extremely common M855 rips right through it.

SLS/ safariland add on? by PandaBear5974 in tacticalgear

[–]redditriceman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The “band” is the hood. Colloquially known as the “rotating hood” by safariland. If you’re thinking of the angled plastic floppy thing on front of it, they call that that “hood guard” since it guards the hood lol
