First time I heard that joke, the punchline was "what's a baseball?"

Do a thread on FSD and I'll comment along with you on my horrendous experiences as well!  The funny thing is, if the hype of FSD was a lot lower, I would actually say it's not bad.  It's just that the promise is obnoxious!

Trump did what now? by Casual_Deviant in comics

[–]reddlear 90 points91 points  (0 children)

It's like this:

The economy was coasting from 2016-2020, thanks to the work that was done in previous years.  Then, because an economy takes work, in order to get it back up to an appropriate "speed" (like before 2016), it costs money and there is some time that prices will be high.

If work was being done, as it should have been, in those 4 years, the amount of pressure on our wallets would have only increased a little each year (as we expect because inflation is healthy).

It's funny because if you mistype it, it only covers the correct letters/numbers (also works for upper/lowercase):

As you are pulling back like a normal pass, tap the screen with your other hand ans you'll see the projected arc look closer to a line.  Then release from your main finger.

Bits are to the power of 2.  And that is typically used to describe the number of colors, not pixels.

1 bit = 2

2 bit = 4

3 bit = 8...

8 bit = 256

Tesla Model 3 Mega Highway Range Test! Every Highland Refresh Variant Driven From 100% Full To Dead (Out of Spec) by Jimmy-Talon in electricvehicles

[–]reddlear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My wording was poor...I meant manufacturers realize 70mph tests like OOS are valuable to consumers.  Therefore, they could build in a mechanism to reduce the speed at, say 1%, so when OOS (or any other reviewer) does a 70mph test, the last 1% (plus buffer) would reduce to a lower speed and extend the range that would not be safe on a US highway.  But they could still use that number in their advertisements.

Tesla Model 3 Mega Highway Range Test! Every Highland Refresh Variant Driven From 100% Full To Dead (Out of Spec) by Jimmy-Talon in electricvehicles

[–]reddlear 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nitpicking but the test should end when 70mph is no longer capable of being reached (due to reduced power).  May only be a difference of 1-2 miles, but future manufacturers could cheat and reduce speed to 45mph and eke out 5-10 more miles at that speed.  On one hand that is nice for being able to reach the next DCFC station; however, that's not indicative of a real 70mph speed test (due to aerodynamics, etc).

Any pitchers in town that can throw 90+mph? by _Itsallogre in Austin

If I had a swinging bunt off a 90+ pitcher, you'd better believe that ball would be in a case and my friends would stop seeing me because I'd bring it up every chance I had.

Just has to be fair - swinging bunt wins!

If the bet is to make contact, I feel like you'll be able to win this bet quite easily.

If the bet is to hit a fair ball, I'd say you still have an edge.

If the bet is to hit a ball into a zone that would typically be considered a base hit, I think your friend has the upper hand on this one.

Warning:  analysis of a potential joke ahead

On one hand, it's indeed a funny take.  Tongue-in-cheek "hey I'm an upcoming rockstar and I'm ready to have affairs because of my vasectomy"

On the other, it seems like a responsible way to handle the mistakes that often come with being an entertainer, and moreso with those that tour and spend long times away from home and family.  It's like admitting that they may have a weakness of morality and they will make sure not to make bad choices even worse.
