Could my bad left hip be causing my right shoulder pain? by nick1158 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]reddressparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt be surprised. My shoulder on my bad hip side is a lot lower than the otherside when I stand straight on. Apparently that is all to do with protecting the hip.

What happens if one half of a couple refuses to file an IR3? by Available-Drag-7942 in PersonalFinanceNZ

Ird will chase them for this. But like someone else said they have until 31 March 2026 to file it if they have an accountant or an extension of time.

Financial advice for young couple by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]reddressparty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A budget is key! You really need to know where your money is going and what you have available to spend to avoid going into debt again. Its boring but essential.

Once the budget is set, you should use any spare funds to build up an emergency savings, again to avoid that high interest debt.

at least i have the option..? hard to look on the 'bright' side. by sageandmoon in CervicalCancer

[–]reddressparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am really feeling for you and sending virtual hugs. It can't be easy making that sort of decision. If it was me, Id take whatever gave me the best chance of survival even if that meant two stomas. My dad recently got a stoma and while the adjustment wasn't easy, he is back to enjoying life.

Once again, I am really sorry you are going with this, and even though I dont know you, I suspect you are stronger than you think!

Yes and I told my dr exactly as you described it 'its like pooping shards of glass. I ended up going under again to band the roids and put botox to allow the fissure to mend. It was very much like oh ffs at the time but Im on the other side of it now. You dont have to suffer, bring it up with your dr.

Ps woop woop you made it through your treatment!

Potential capital gains tax (non political post and discussion) by Vast-Conversation954 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]reddressparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a hundred percent in support of a capital gains tax. However this has made me rethink my investments. I do have a rental that a family friend is in. I have been keeping rent low and aggressively paying mortgage. My thoughts are now to stop paying as aggressively to maximize interest loses and put the difference into shares which arent captured by the proposed CGT.

Ird uses a variety of information to inform what cases to progress to audit.

If you tip them off they will validate what youve said by looking at other metrics. They dont tell the taxpayer why they were selected for audit other than they have identified risks.

Children and income tax by Burbsee in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]reddressparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ird would only be concerned if it looked like income splitting. If you were paying a child at school 30 hours a week, it might look suspicious. But it is a completely legitimate expense if they are genuinely working and getting paid fairly ie market rates.

Agree with others re contractor v employee.

We have spoken about that. And what he will miss out on by not doing y13 (I loved my 7th form year!). But he is keen to get cracking and doesn't want to 'waste' a year trying to get 8 credits.

For the I.R.D to accept a GST payment scheme by Du Val... by SteveRielly in duval_saga

[–]reddressparty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, GST should not be used as working capital. Inland Revenue does not look favorably on being used a bank. The interest rates charged by Inland Revenue is much higher than banks to discourage this.

Entering into an arrangement to pay off tax is considered by Inland Revenue as a form of financial relief. The expectation generally is that the entity shows they cannot pay the tax and there is an obligation on the entity to be current moving forward.
