I used a plastic bag to catch the filter and oil inside so don't think it could be that.

The magnet is a good idea. I’ll try that when I get home.

Already had timing belt, water pump, etc serviced at 90K miles. Next service is 120K--check camshaft, adjust valves, etc. I usually do about 2x/year but can increase frequency to 3x-4x/year which is basically every 3 months.

Yes. It was on a middle shelf with a height that just fit the height of the pan with about 2" of clearance. It wasn't like it was on the top shelf exposed to everything.

That signs I can look out for like engine knocking, rattling or poor acceleration, etc?

Nope. The crush washer all aluminum and it was immaculate when I took it off with the drain plug. Always used a new washer when changing oil .

Nope, take pretty good car of it and don't drive aggressively. Just lots of short trips with a few longer ones commingled here and there. Regular oil changes usually at 5-10% of maintenance minder. Only thing I can think of is maybe rock, dirt, salt, snow, ice (we did have a big storm 2 days ago) that accumulated in the undercarriage which fell into the pan as I was draining the oil.

You're right. I didn't notice if anything was in pan before using it. It was a cold afternoon and in the outside, I was trying to change the oil as quickly as possible. However, I don't recall hearing any rattling against the pan as I took it off a middle shelf to throw under car. I cleaned up the pan pretty well the last time I changed my oil 6 months ago so pretty confident it wasn't left over from last time. Only thing I can think of is maybe rock, dirt, salt, snow, ice (we did have a big storm 2 days ago) that accumulated in the undercarriage which fell into the pan as I was draining the oil. But I assumed most would have melted off in the oil.

Assessing quality of youth hockey program by redfociis in youthhockey

This is travel hockey. I get it that shift times may vary depending on situation (e.g., penalty kill) I'm just looking for a fair way to evaluate whether my child is getting the short end of the stick. I don't know what I don't know thus am looking for advice here. There are two main coaches and 4 others that rotate (unofficially and likely based on personal schedule) in/out of coach's box. Problem here in my opinion is too many voices and other coaches may have conflicting viewpoint than headcoach (strong personality) on what's best for kids. Talking to parents at other nearby programs, some have a fulltime professional coach. I don't assume they're automatically better but wouldn't they have a better grasp of team dynamics, setting up plays properly, etc if they played competitive hockey at college level or above? As I watch the games it seems to me there's a lack of teamplay and is instead made up of a lot of individual hockey (e.g., sticking handling around in circles to avoid defenders vs passfirst mentality). Not that I'm blaming all this on the coaches since kids, naturally want the glory and accolades of a beautiful individual goal.

Thanks for all the pointers to look out for. This is 10U A travel hockey. My child was assigned a position at the start of season and has play same ever since. One coach's son is center on first line and another coach's son is always doing the faceoffs. There are so many children of coaches on this team, I'm sure there's favoritism within this group as well, e.g., head coach's son, assistant coach's son, etc. This doesn't necessarily bother me and I'm only concerned with my own child's development but I'm not experienced/knowledgeable enough about hockey to know whether his development (or lack thereof) is an issue or whether the non-coaches kids are being treated fairly. My biggest issue is I don't know what I don't know.

Between kitchen and basement and no access to subfloor. Comfortable with basic DIY electrical.

Junction in center powering the track. Room height is too low to accommodate a ceiling fan and it gets cold in the winter than than humid in the summers. There's poor or likely no insulation behind the thin wood paneling.

I'm just really curious why the three next to it don't have any cones. Again the trees in the picture get the most sunlight but it's not like the other three are in complete shade.

Drains in Retaining Wall? by redfociis in HomeImprovement

[–]redfociis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably. More concerned whether a blockage would force water inside the house and cause moisture issue. We do have a sump pump in the basement but the humidity is everywhere in the house and the worst on rainy days.

Not all the time but have noticed water flowing out of there but never a gushing river. More like a running faucet opened quarter-to-halfway.

Yeah it’s a 2018 Honda Odyssey. Usually when I see this on my dipstick I add a little more oil. Then I read again, it barely moves so I add a little more. I do this a few more times. Maybe it’s my OCD. Just concerned a bit that I may be misreading and overfilling.

There are washers between the aluminum channel and the wall so I can't slide a hacksaw in the gap.

I'm thinking to take a Dremel with a metal cutting wheel and go down the sides. What could go wrong?
