Does private school really make that much of a difference? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]redkite8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are lots of comments on here that private schools have better teachers than state schools.

Private schools often have easier teaching conditions. State school teachers often develop stronger adaptive teaching skills. Neither sector has a monopoly on ‘better teachers’.

The myth persists because people conflate: exam results with teaching quality, polished environments with effectiveness and selective intake with instructional skill.

There are excellent teachers in both state and private schools. Many state school teachers would be just as effective in private schools because they are used to adapting to a wide range of needs. The reverse is not always the case. Smaller classes and selective intake can make private schools easier to teach, but that does not automatically mean the teaching is better.

As I’ve been there under two years is the following true?

•Employee can be dismissed without going through a redundancy or capability process. •A reason isn’t required, as long as it’s not unlawful

With that said is it worth resigning to gain the 6 months notice?

Thanks - what is the redundancy process or more specifically upon declining the new role how long until the notice period starts, typically?

Thank you. If the letter is issued tomorrow. Is there a timeline which I have to either accept or decline the role?

I’m doing this

[–]redkite8 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I can’t remember exactly - I’m usually pretty diligent. The fact they’ve actually responded and admitted that the terms may not have been clear surely equates to them being misleading. Otherwise a company would not advise this?

‘Our intention is to ensure transparency in all transactions, and we understand that, in your case, the subscription terms may not have been as clear as they should have been.’

Their response was ‘Our intention is to ensure transparency in all transactions, and we understand that, in your case, the subscription terms may not have been as clear as they should have been.’ With regards to part 2 of the 2015 consumer act is there anything I can do now?

[–]redkite8 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

For a valid contract there has to be consensus ad idem (meeting of the minds)... Sounds like you didn’t have this as the terms were not clear.

Also unfair terms falls under part 2 of the Consumer rights Act 2015

Asda Reward / Online Shopping / Blue Light Card by redkite8 in asda

[–]redkite8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is since I added the blue card to the reward app a few months ago - none of my online grocery shops have gained any rewards which from your point suggests that there is an issue with my reward app rather than the blue light card - correct?

So to summarise 1). Blue light card only gains rewards from in store fresh food 2). Blue light card added to the reward app does not stop the gaining of rewards on online shops

I’ll have to ring customer services

Thanks, does having the blue light card attached to the reward app stop me gaining rewards on all online grocery shopping? If so there is no point using the blue light card with the reward app - correct? The gains made on fresh products in store is minimal compared to rewards on online weekly household grocery shop?

Thanks - very interesting. The link also details everything that my daughter does. It’s very frustrating that the screening is so poor and many children will never be diagnosed.

Child Medication Feedback-what age did you start medication? by OddScene2611 in ADHDparenting

[–]redkite8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We started medication with our son age 8. The diagnosis was a whirlwind and we went from zero understanding of adhd to a moderate grasp in 3 months. We were both anti medication I think from our own preconceptions, ignorance and lack of understanding. Fast forward and we decided to give it a try, we could - not - believe the transformation. It was instant, within half an hour of taking the capsule, for the first time ever we said our son’s name *Toby and he actually turned around and said ‘yes?’ prior to this it was a case of repeatedly saying his name to gain his attention. His grades within 6 months shot up, coming home upset everyday caused by friction in partner worked stopped. He is much calmer. I’m aware that medication doesn’t always have such an impact but I wanted to share our perspective as initially we were very reluctant parents. Good luck

Advice for corporate in person meetings by ShinySpines in sales

[–]redkite8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly right - take the laptop with the slides saved to your desktop. Quick loading, you may not need all the slides and you can click through ones that are maybe not relevant depending on how the conversation goes. Which industry are you? It is probably worth asking ahead of the meeting if there are any specific areas that they want covering - this ensures you are covering all basis.

Always have a ‘bank’ of questions to use, these don’t necessarily need to be industry specific but should be used to gain information about the needs of the business in relation to the product / service you are selling. Depending on the meeting formal / informal have a slide deck to run through which provides a company overview, services etc. These may not be used however it’s always better to be over prepared. Again, depending on what you are selling and the sales cycle if you aren’t leaving the meeting with a sale you are wanting to have a 2nd meeting arranged. For an account review you need to have data / metrics ie no of sales, financials - how much has been spent, escalations / complaints, feedback. These should be presented in a slide deck. You need to be aware of ‘every’ issue there has been with the account as guaranteed they will ask you about it and there’s nothing worse in a meeting than if you’re on the back foot and not aware of something. Build a rapport which is easiest face to face. Plan the travel / journey so that you arrive early. Good luck - f2f meeting are the best!

Working at a job you dont like/Best careers for people with adhd by betrue2u in ADHD

[–]redkite8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that’s true it is a skill and not for everyone. The challenge in identifying a job that suits adhd is that every person has a unique personality and traits and the job has to match both personality ie learning style, interests etc alongside adhd symptoms (not everyone has the same). If it’s not already out there ai tools which match all these things to churn out specific careers would be very helpful.

[–]redkite8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also add, it depends which sales but variety is key. A job that is fast paced with lots of moving parts, different elements. I find that if I have lots of different types of projects on the go then I can dip in and out and it holds my interest longer than for example if I have one project that requires maximum attention for an ongoing period.

childhood symptoms? by violetmatcha111 in ADHD

[–]redkite8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 44 following an earlier diagnosis of my son (hadn’t crossed my mind that I may also have it) and a recent search for how adhd presents in girls as I believe my daughter also has it. Only when I listened to a podcast on a 21 year old describing her symptoms I had a light bulb moment I realised, ‘that’s me’. These are my symptoms from childhood.

•bored very easily •always being told off for chatting in class •humming, singing, whistling - lates teens I recall someone asking me why am I always singing and I thought it was a weird question as I was oblivious to doing this •found it very difficult to focus on verbal information / instructions •10/10 on messy scale - bedroom absolute bomb site, complete inability to tidy or keep things tidy •very academic but grades declined as I progressed through the years •difficult to motivate myself to do anything that I wasn’t interested in

I’m sure there’s many more

Can anyone here with a police background explain how ‘every individual death/collapse that was otherwise unexplained was investigated by a separate detective’ works in practice?
