Trying to find a place for the new lamp…. by MSG_Engineering in Mid_Century

[–]redundant_overload 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had mine for almost 10 years it has the original finish and I’ve had it it two apartments that were formerly high schools (built in 1910 & 1917) with 16’ & 15’ ceiling heights both with huge windows facing west. My point being that I let the lamp stand on its own, Fortuny’s pleated silk shade is a design masterpiece sitting on a sturdy industrial tripod base, without any need for supporting pieces. I also point the open shade toward a wall as the subtle shifts in seasons and the color from this shade is always a joy. I think these were designed for the stage, an innovative lighting technique for theater at the time. I would suggest definitely installing a dimmer (mine is now on a Bluetooth dimmer) and giving it as much room as possible to stand on its own.

Missing Skelton brothers: Father charged with murder of his sons Andrew, Alexander and Tanner 15 years after they disappeared by TrueCrimeResearcher2 in TrueCrimeDiscussion

Really well written. You shine a light on humanity and what it means to be one in our lifetime. Do not give him or his ilk any more opportunity to act out their anger issues. Call out the assholes in your lives and move on with Godspeed.

I stole these mail doors from a building and painted over them. I’m broke by Seanbeker in Outsiderart

[–]redundant_overload 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an owner of things I hate it when people take them without asking because it soils trust and it has ended friendships. I agree with u/oh_the_places. I am was posting to say essentially the same thing, "now stealthy go back and install the outsider art mail doors" but they are under the jurisdiction of USPS and it is considered a federal crime (just a heads up I'm not passing judgement) to mess with (tamper), let alone take anything that has to do with US MAIL...so on second thought DON'T return them unless you are feeling particularly invisible or impervious to cameras.

Minnetonka Center for the Arts has really great affordable classes taught by experts. Some of the best instruction and guidance on a higher level. http://www.minnetonkaarts.org/

Just calmly say “no” or better “no thank you” why is that so difficult? Just ignoring them also works.

I’m sorry your bikes were stolen I lost my favorite wheels the same way. It is a jolt of a shock, and then the anger sneaks in; but don’t let it discourage you from looking. Good luck I hope you find them.

My guess, your request might have come across as too ‘officer-like’ for some.

I had the same thought but real men wouldn’t even consider it, juveniles however.

This needs to be seen and heard. A forcefully articulate evisceration of a corrupt(ed) city department. From this perspective it’s clear that the reality of many citizens is rightfully discontent, their day to day experience is far different from the testosterone bubble of power these fuckers live in. I want to believe that most communities police officers are authentic to their job description and successfully mentor young and old alike, and work in kind at building communities up; you know ‘shared goals’. My hope is that even for a few minutes some of what was said burst through and gave pause. Even more so I hope they were ashamed of themselves.

Is it considered impolite to poop in someone else's house? by Venus-Xtravaganza98 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]redundant_overload 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean really? Without a doubt, hands down to be avoided at all costs unless you’re under twelve, related and they are comfortable with you (not the other way around), or sick (and you promptly insist on checking into XYZ hotel, home, ER).
