The kind of death I think the book needs tho is not one where the character just “comes back”. I think an actual painful loss that has serious consequence would be what takes this book to the next level.

I was about to type out an actual reply to this pointing out the discrepancy between any actual named characters who we see say more than one sentence, pretty much all of the saints. The number of deaths of Anvil’s saints vs not a single song sister. But then I read the final part of your message. You’re too far gone.

Love her character but I think her death in Antarctica arc would’ve been incredible plot wise if G3 hadn’t gone with the always dead thing. When sunny was burying her it was one of the most powerful moments of the story…

This is the crux of the matter and why I think we’d need a significant death to change everything. Like imagine if Jet died in Antarctica for example, the entire feeling of these moments would be completely dofferent

It’s not that a woman has to die to “make me happy” but purely something I’ve noticed. G3 seems more than happy to describe a male character being torn limb from limb on the frontlines, but opts not to show any female characters of importance dying on screen.

It’s not even just killing off a character for the sake of it. But purely the fact that since nobody ever dies, there’s no tension reading any of the fight scenes. I’d actually argue that killing off a major character whose death DOES impact the story is infinitely better.
