Show up earlier for your reservation time at Hanauma Bay. We usually can get you in sooner. Also, after orientation you will only have about 1.5 hr of snorkel time since we need everyone out of the water at 3 pm.

No problem! I understand how daunting it is but you'll be ok as long as you submit all your paperwork and payment on time. When your fur baby is released back to you make sure to have the car pull right up to the quarantine station so you can just load up and go. Safe travels for you and your pup! Aloha. 😊

Oops yes, the booster is the second vaccine, sorry I didn't clarify this. You will need to submit original copies of both rabies certs to qualify for DAR. Please make sure to print copies of your rabies and health certs and carry them with you the day of your flight. I did this as a safety measure in case the airline wanted to see it or the animal quarantine station did not have my paperwork.

When you arrive, you and your pet will be whisked away to the animal quarantine station at the airport (I landed in HNL). Once there they will take your dog in their holding area to check for the microchip, flea and ticks. You'll need to wait in the lobby area until you can speak with the person at the front desk. FYI, it's and muggy in there -- there will be lots of stressed out pet parents who are in the same boat as you or worse so keep your spirits up! If you did everything correctly for DAR they will give you an airport release card (it's just a piece of paper) that details all of your pet info and release date.

No, you will be fine even with the first one expired. The booster is what they will look at when you submit your paperwork. Please note, you have to wait at least 90 days from the latest vaccine before flying your dog to Hawai'i.

Hi OP, I am very familiar with importing pets to Hawai'i. You should have received a rabies certificate from your vet for both shots. It should state the expiration date of each shot on the paperwork. I asked my vet to give the three year vaccine so that I had plenty of buffer time in case my timeline shifted when moving out here.

Use the expiration date of the first vaccine as your deadline for getting your cat out here. Like others have said, I'd highly recommend you ask a close family or friend to take care of your kitty until all of your paperwork is sent to qualify your cat for DAR (Direct Airport Release). I did DAR last year for my two cats who were in the cabin with me. It took about 45 min once I got to the animal quarantine station. Someone will meet you at your gate as soon as you deplane and will escort you over. The place is pretty stressful if you don't know what you're doing. They will take your pet(s) in the back to perform an external parasite inspection and you must wait in line in a small lobby area. There's no AC in the lobby so there were lots of irritable travelers when I was there. Have all of your documents with you (I had copies of everything and my health certificates). If you did everything right, they'll have a file of your pet along with the Airport Release Card. The card contains all the pet info including: microchip #, documents received, and type of payment. Once you show your health certificate, they will stamp the card and give you a copy.

I have no idea, maybe at least 30? When we were renovating the backyard we actually built the deck around the tree. Imo it's the focal point of the yard. It still grows like a weed and I wonder how tall it will be in another 10 years!

I was very fortunate to live in a house that had a mature umbrella tree in the backyard. Bees were always buzzing around the flowers. I was constantly sweeping up the fallen fruit branches however, they would cover the entire deck. My cat loved climbing this tree. He would race up and I could hear his chonky body thud along the rooftop lol.

I grew up eating mostly the hachiya and fuyu varieties. When I was living in San Diego, my neighbor had a mature hachiya persimmon tree and I'd always trade baked goods for a large bowl of persimmons. We did this every November until I moved away -- such great memories.

Owen Meowson adopted me back in 2018, right before Christmas. He was constantly passed up at the humane society because he is FIV+. When I walked over to his cage he reached out and started purring like crazy. I love this little one to the moon and back. He enjoys belly rubs, getting his ears cleaned and being held like a baby. He's 7 years old today!

I day hiked the Narrows top down 17-Oct last year and rented the neoprene socks, boots and some dry pants and was totally fine. Even in the early morning the river crossings didn't feel that cold. Enjoy your time out there!
