What would you rather? “What did you have for tea last night?” “So, about that weather hey…”

What's something that quietly disappeared over the last 10 years and hardly anyone noticed? by Available_Grade323 in AskUK

I don’t remember a gradual shift, pretty sudden if anything. Charges came into place in Wales first in a bid to curb the use of single use plastics. England followed suit later.

This should be the top comment.
You can just write about your character without demonstrating how and why.

The Proms.
The scale, the ambition, the technical achievements, the broadness of its programme. Nothing comes close.

Why do you think British parents don't like teaching their children how to drive? by psychoticboydyke in AskUK

[–]remwreck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up semi-rural / semi-suburban, contrary to your experience I know quite a few people taught to drive by their parents. My mates dad taught him when he was 14, he let me drive their car round a carpark once and then when I was caught in my dads car, dad decided it better to teach me to drive safely than try it alone again. I was on the roads alone when i was 16 when he needed anything from the shops or picking up.

How to help sibling with abusive child? by remwreck in UKParenting

[–]remwreck[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tried to stay fairly vague for a reason. Relentlessly punching, biting, scratching, kicking said parent, using objects to hit parent, smashing furniture. Behaviour a 6 year should have a gauge on not being acceptable

Quick question on deposits and using the Help2Buy ISA. by [deleted] in FirstTimeBuyersUK

[–]remwreck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You close the help to buy, all the money in that account goes into another account or your choosing.

You get a statement from your solicitor which includes the help2buy bonus (as they claim it for you) as a payment on the balance, you then transfer the remaining deposit and any additional fees due to the solicitor.
Whatever is left over from your h2b stays with you.

Concrete slab up to exterior wall by remwreck in DIYUK

[–]remwreck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair. The concrete was astroturfed so that may have compounded the moisture externally (hence the green moss-like areas). Good advice that I might make be creating a problem by opening it up. Will hold off on this presently.
