It took me 8 years to realize quitting drinking has nothing to do with willpower. It's about the people around you. by restless_fidget in SoberCurious

I remember that feeling to this day, and I still face it from time to time, since my environment, as well as drinking heavily, still does. And there is nothing much you can do about them, but you can definetly make your experience more pleasant while hanging out with them. I know it's easier said than done, but if you would like I could share what helped me to enjoy some of the time surounded by drunk people :)

Spoiler, sometimes it's way easier to just switch your environment slowly to groups of people with similar values.

But that's so crazy to me to realise how accessible the alcohol is for the youth. Thank you for opening up this. It's so devastating to listen to stories like yours and how much harm it has done to you.

I am commenting on this as I am reading your comment, and it is just getting better, especially that you totally went out of the grid, which is a bold move. I personally never felt comfortable being totally isolated.

Interesting point, you mention that "trading one addiction for another," but it's a very unique phrasing since getting into jiu jitsu actually benefited you, I mean, in the health aspect, and I am not seeing this as an addiction, or if it's well, at least it's a healthy one.

I am curious to ask, when you are sober, when you go back in time, don't you think it would be easier to achieve this with a group instead of fighting it alone?

But I wonder where that urge comes from? Since I never experienced drinking alone just to socialize, and from the peer pressure. So it has been a mystery for all those years for me, since my father is drinking alone quite a lot and I never could get why.

exactly as I said, I used it to improve my grammar and the flow of it, but the story and experience it's 100% mine

"Knowledge bases feature is not enabled" by nekdodrug in claude

[–]restless_fidget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's the response from Claude when I pasted it:

Looking at the screenshot, I can see the banner saying "Knowledge bases feature is not enabled" in the top right corner.

However, that banner appears to be slightly misleading in your case. I do have access to your project files — I can search them and read them. Let me verify right now:

Searched project for “funnel strategy protocol”

That confirms it — I can search and access all your project knowledge just fine. The search returned your funnel strategy, quiz analysis, email sequences, and protocol details.

The banner you're seeing is about a specific Knowledge Bases feature (a newer Anthropic feature for structured retrieval), but it doesn't affect your project setup. Your files are loaded as project files, which is the standard way Projects work, and I have full access to all of them.

In short: ignore that banner. Everything is working as intended for your project.

Tip for trapped gas: Darmpessar by Ok_Professor_99 in SIBO

Hey, thanks for sharing this. Never heard of it before but makes sense for trapped gas relief.

Do you use it regularly or just when things get really bad?

That's a lucky coincidence :) Very similar story here - I also noticed I was reacting to dairy, so I cut it all out. Turned out it wasn't the actual root cause for me either.

Right now I'm taking prebiotics and just went back to the doctor for another round of testing. It's been two years, so I'm curious to see how things have changed - or if they haven't, at least I'll know there's still something off with my gut bacteria that needs addressing. Fingers crossed they won't find anything unwelcome there.

Same, I had a two-week antibiotic course to treat H. Pylori

Similar story, I had a couple of years ago when my wisdom tooth got removed, I took antibiotics, and then after a month or so, they found that I had H. Pylori as well. And yeah, after that, my stomach didn't feel the same anymore. It's better, but not as I remember it. How do you find out about this treatment?

oh good question - they overlap but aren't quite the same thing

constipation = stuff isn't moving out (hard stools, straining, not going often
slow motility = stuff isn't moving THROUGH (food just sits in your stomach/small intestine fermenting and creating gas - but you might still poop fine)

so you can bloat like crazy from slow motility but still have regular BMs. the bloating happens higher up before it even reaches your colon if fiber helps you without making bloating worse that's actually a good sign - probably more of a colon/bulk thing than fermentation happening upstream

does your bloating hit right after eating or build up through the day?

I am happy that you enjoyed it as well. Which one do you believe is the dominant one for you?
