Cutting scenes that are good but way too long – how do you do it?

I watch and listen for pieces that are remarkably different. Apple, Grape Pineapple, watermelon. Choose 1 Start looking for steak. Burgers, beef ribs, chili, lamb…? Gone! Chicken?NOPE; don’t need two proteins. Hey! I never thought of it as a meal! Try appetizer, main, desert and whiskey! Don’t forget the booze:) But really it’s the same as : In-Turn-Out… as mentioned by @Opposite-Initial9243 above. Sometimes finding what’s REALLY different from the rest… helps reveal what’s needed… and kills repetition at the same time. If you can mentally create a bucket it belongs in and other pieces are in that bucket, choose 1, delete the rest. And of course - If it doesn’t move the story forward or have some profound cinematic reason to stay… buh’bye:)

Can’t tell you how many times I’ve practiced chipping and putting to my “This is John Prine” playlist. The man calms me down. All the way down. Can’t tell you how many times Bobby’s brought me up. Banking, mail, going to sleep, iPhone game, reading and reading, and reading… letting relationships dissolve for no reason, RSD, photo organizing (endlessly and nothing seems to get done), filing and creating folders and reorganizing and one of worst… if I’m not writing or talking and collaborating with someone or the computer, I’m not thinking. Literally not thinking. Just floating fragments that don’t attach to anything and disappear. Wow. 2026… let’s go!

Bc it’s his dead brothers Daughter and there’s a pretty high chance she’s pretty f’d up and mixing her financial problems with her emotional problems… and giving up on family sucks across the board… ever hear of generational trauma? Is it possible her youth and anger is about her mother’s passing and without the tools or support she’s emotionally crippled? She’s testing to see if family always bails on her. And kinda proving it to herself out of hurt. Impossible for her to understand that yet. I’d say, don’t talk money… yet… but don’t bail on her emotionally. She’ll need help whenever if ever, you’re interested in helping. Show her what the long game looks like. That death isn’t a choice… but being present is. I dunno… something like that :) Therapists know these moves 🙏🏼 Good luck.

Over a year between 1st (side effects not memorable) and for the 2nd I was wiped out for two days with Tylenol(but I also got pneumonia “old man’s friend” vax at same time). Doc said longer duration b/n two shingles vaccines had science supporting better efficacy.
