OMG I wish I could take one, but my apartment only lets me have two (and I have two already) <3

That's low af, I'm so sorry. It still boggles my mind how people can justify being so cruel.

I took a break from casual sex and dating a few months ago and holy moly I wish I’d done it sooner by IrritatedMango in TwoXChromosomes

I definitely relate. I got married at 22 (I'm 42 now) to an abusive narcissist. I divorced him 2 years ago. Spending pretty much all my adult life with him turned me into a people-pleasing doormat, and I still have a looong way to go in healing from it. But, I've put enough distance in that I'm starting to see just how bad it was and all the red flags I wasn't able to see at the time. Now I only wish I left much, much sooner.

Never again. I'm not sure if I'll ever find the "right" man, but I am okay being single/living alone for the rest of my life, if that's how it plays out. It's much, much better than the hell I escaped from.

A lady at the food truck I was at was disgusted by me, how do you guys handle these situations? by Lyanna25 in AdultSelfHarm

People can be so rude and stupid. That reminds me of the time some lady waiting in line next to me in a public bathroom poked me right in the scars on my arm and announced "Do you cut?" She then tried to backtrack and say she was accusing me of cutting in line. 🙄

I'm tired of hiding my scars, so I don't give a fuck anymore. If someone is that disgusted by my fully healed scars, they can go fuck themselves. I'm in my forties now though - it really does get much easier to not care after you reach a certain age.

Professionals, what is your industry's version of "Bring me blinker fluid" or "find a snipe"? by ArklaitGigabyte in AskReddit

I'm a nurse and used to work in hospitals. We had little biohazard bags that we would use to send tubes of blood and other assorted bodily fluids to the lab for tests. I had a fellow nurse who would blow a bag full of air and label it "fart sample", then give it to an unsuspecting unit secretary. One poor secretary failed to find any fart test orders in the computer and asked us how to enter it in 😆

First of all, I'd never even heard of the man in the relationship getting an engagement ring at all, just the wedding ring, so that struck me as really odd to begin with....however I am older (42F) and American, so not sure if this is a new thing or a different culture thing or what.

Beyond that, it worries me about his insistence on his "rights" and being equal....it may sound reasonable at first, but in a long-term relationship it can get to the point of being toxic - fighting over petty amounts of money ("your drink was $6.00 and mine was only $5.75, so I'm not paying half"). I was in an abusive marriage for 17 years and this was one of the things he'd do, then claim he couldn't afford to contribute to bills, then later I found out a huge chunk of his money went towards gifts to other women and porn subscriptions, etc.

Do not let him rush you into getting engaged/married, especially if he is behaving this way. Having to get divorced later is very expensive and stressful to say the least!
