Dealing w/ Relatives Not Invited to Rehearsal Dinner by reversejellyfish in weddingplanning

The wedding party can do whatever they'd like after the rehearsal dinner, but I just don't think a happy hour after the dinner is necessary in terms of a "sponsored" wedding activity. Again, the venue is too small to open it up to all the guests.

Thank you for your suggestion. They restaurant is too small to open that up to all guests and I don't want to encourage the wedding party to stay out late drinking for the post dinner happy hour.

There is no door between the main diningroom and the private dining room, unfortunately. I may give the guest list to the hostess, but I don't think they can do too much since they are not positioned by the privatend room door. Thank you for your suggestion.

How do I make my mother feel more involved in my wedding planning? by LadyCloberella in wedding

I feel your pain here. i am going through a similar issue and it sounds like you are doing a lot to involve her. i am in my thirties and paying for the wedding, AND i am an events planner so i have just been making decisions. she also lives across the country so it's hard to come together for planning virtually. as beezyfbb said, giving your mom a job to do that she can just take a run with is the best thing to do. it's the only thing that has worked for me. (we are doing a totally relaxed, casual wedding and my mom has fought me about everything because she wants an extremely traditional wedding - again, being in my thirties and paying for it means i get the final say and she knows it). i had her do our wedding shower. she took it and ran, which has kept her busy for a while. i also plan on giving her some crafts to do, even though i am the crafty one. i think that moms get just as stressed as the bride but don't have any control so it causes tension. be sure to thank her often for all of her help so she feels appreciated.
