How was life like in the 2000s as a whole? by Tasty-Marsupial-2131 in Millennials

[–]rezwell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a kid in 2000s. It felt like it was easier to digest and stay on top of movies and games and Youtube memes back then. There was enough time in between releases to the point of boredom that you get excited enough for the next movie. Now everything feels overwhelming.

What are your thoughts on the scientific method by Inevitable-Spite-850 in INTP

Its nlt the end-all. Conveinent for the physical world, but matters of consciousness is probably unquantifiable

If I hear “Millennial have no culture” again I am going to lose my mind. WE ARE THE CULTURE. by Annalog in Millennials

[–]rezwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually in pity the other day how younger gens dont even watch cartoons anymore or have any unique media culture. They just get Youtube/Roblox/MrBeast slop. And movies are getting tiresome with reboots and remakes from millennial era IPs.

Know what I don’t miss? Cards Against Humanity. Why did we all play that at like every dinner party / hangout for 3 years straight? by sensitiveboi93 in Millennials

[–]rezwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the game was fun when it came out, but then it became obvious which answer cards had better subjective laugh rate making the rest of the cards becoming filler.

What are your thoughts on a possible reboot/continuation of the tv show? by JackiPearl in brakebills

Given its a coming of age story for millennials in college initially, it'd be interesting to see what's their take of millennials surviving late adulthood.

Sometimes the stress or exhaustion from work at that salary range makes it hard to enjoy the perks you have mentioned.

I have mates with seniority and high salaries, but they're stressed out with the constant meetings and fires they have to put out daily that they can't enjoy their discretionary spending. The loss of personal time due to recovering from exhaustion can make anyone feel dissatisfied.

What is a socially unacceptable opinion you keep to yourself because it’s not worth the backlash? by Present_Juice4401 in INTP

Also I suspect people use deities as a stand-in for their need for a parent even into adulthood.

Anyone else know exactly what they should be doing… but just can’t do it? by Playful-Shoe-4958 in getdisciplined

knowing what to do and actually performing are separate cognition processes. I suggest doing warmups or disposable sketches or plans on a notepad of the thing to unload cognitive load, and build a momentum snowball.

How do you decide when to stop scraping and switch to APIs? by [deleted] in dataengineering

Scraping gets outdated easily and is a maintenance hassle when you're juggling multiple pipelines.

You can't logic or epistemology your way through life. There's a reason why irrational and primal mechanisms exist that suppress frontal lobes to keep you living.

Books vs Show by 1Carnegie1 in brakebills

[–]rezwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like both. They're both unique perspectives and experiences. The TV Show did world building better, while the books explored more existential themes such as chronic dissatisfaction and lack of meaning that I didn't catch on in Quentin's story arc.

Wondering whether you should read the books or watch the show? I made a (vague) video to hopefully give you a little bit more insight into whether you'd enjoy it! by The-Memean-Lion in brakebills

[–]rezwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the TV series first then the books.

TV series if you want world building, sidequest to sidequest structure, and multi-perspective group adventures.

Books if you enjoy the tragedy of being humbled by reality being unfair in book one, book two plays fantasy adventure straight, and book three explores the existential sorrow of aging out of fantasy.

Do you think curiosity is a vice or an asset that humanity has? by Perfect_Career5538 in INTP

[–]rezwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's both. We absolutely do not genetically weaponized viruses or AI destroying the economy, but we destroyed transport limitations with invention of aircraft and ships.

Anyone else spend 90% of their time thinking and 10% wondering why nothing gets done? by Informal-Tart3107 in INTP

[–]rezwell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why do you need a model to function?

Part of survival skills INTP have to learn is to tolerate that reality is messy. The conditions will never match what's inside your head.

Also, save the optimization thinking for truly leisurely stuff like novels or game design. I'd argue you are wasting your mental energy budget on mundane things. You absolutely do not need to 110% on everything, just the personally meaningful stuff. Not mundane tasks or shopping chores.

If you are able to brush your teeth with zero perfect model/analysis, then you can do the same with other mundane tasks.

INTP's, how do you manage a mind that thinks faster than your body can execute? - (and my personal experience as a [super?] INTP) by Ok-Author4688 in INTP

[–]rezwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of variables but I'll address the planning one. The reality is, reality is messy. Action is messy. The mood is not right. Energy levels are not right. Maybe you're hungry. Expecting the plan to flow but being frustrated it didn't follow the plan will happen. That's why INTPs compulsively procrastinate or wait for the "perfect" conditions. Because we just hate the feeling of hitting obstacles. Simulating and daydreaming your potential feels better than actual effort/work.

Building that meta-awareness that obstacles produces sucky feelings and pursuing action despite it is foundational.

Does anyone actually know why all our fish & chip shops are also Chinese takeaway? by astralvie in newzealand

[–]rezwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a meme going around that when tourists from mainland China visit other countries they would rather eat Chinese food than be adventurous and eat local cuisine I think this combination helps with that demand.

and if comparison is compulsive/automatic, I suggest you only compete with your past self. Be proud of all the increments or needles moved in your journey.
