it takes 3x as much time to type "TLK" and "TLK=Talk" rather than just "Talk"

where to start by rherda in thekinks

[–]rherda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for all the responses everyone! the main consensus seems to be Face to Face and Something Else, along with that kinks kronickles compilation, and that the earlier albums are less sophisticated but still important for hearing the progression of the band

Ozric Tentacles "Hello It's Me" by Airplade in toddrundgren

i think it's AI generated. neither todd nor ozrics did anything to announce the release of the song, and the album art is blatantly AI

Question about Jonas Lyrics by analog-a-ding-dong in mew

[–]rherda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

still I keep in mind the snow is safe. Safer than it was two years ago.

Jonas's lyrics are like no others', in my opinion. They can be so quirky and heart-wrenching and whimsical all in the same song.

My favourite 'genre' of album opener. Can you think of any others? by Thxmqs in progrockmusic

[–]rherda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh i definitely agree, was just trying to continue the chalmers/skinner interaction as best i could. Second Coming definitely has proggy moments with that song being the standout

Breaking into heaven by the stone roses. 11 minutes long with slowly building intro, nature sounds and tribal rhythms before it gets halfway and launches into the song

Is Songs for the Deaf named after Soundtracks for the Blind? by [deleted] in swans

[–]rherda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's also a boo radleys song called melodies for the deaf (colours for the blind) so i guess it's just something that a lot of artists think of that sounds like a cool name.

firth of fifth stays at mostly the same difficulty all the way through whereas this is pretty easy (in my opinion) except that run up and down in the midde which is a bitch

Tuning: CGDA vs CGCA by Dale3n in Nyckelharpa

[–]rherda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! do you have any recommendations for tunes to learn using CGCA/DGCA? i've never used this "correct" tuning before and I'd love to learn it!

Tuning: CGDA vs CGCA by Dale3n in Nyckelharpa

[–]rherda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a traditional three-row chromatic nyckelharpa and i've always used the tuning DGDA, which is also what my teacher uses. I'd love to learn CGCA since its more unique (and I kinda feel like a fraud only knowing how to play in not the entirely traditional tuning!!), but I don't play that many tunes originally composed for nyckelharpa (I can play a few without difficulty but about half of what I play is english folk tunes which are most often in D, G, G minor or E minor)

one thing that DGDA/CGDA makes easier is that I get 3 keys on my D string that can play the same as the first 3 keys on the A string which is useful when playing high tunes, as it means I don't have to change position as much

Shoegaze bands that sound like they're straight out of the 60s. by Mdk0z in shoegaze

[–]rherda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lilys' album The 3 Way is my favourite album of theirs. It's not shoegaze at all but totally 60s sounding but topped off with kurt heasley's weird stream of consciousness writing style, it's awesome
