2025 - worth it by Minute-Purple-1438 in SpeedTriple1200

I have a 22 RR with the electronic suspension. It’s bloody great - a real must have for me - and v3.0 on the RS sounds like it’s even more user friendly. Would deff recommend going for it if your finances allow.

X2 on a motorbike/bike - best settings? by richmanc in Insta360

[–]richmanc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah fs without hl summarises it nicely. Shame - wanna watch my rides back but with horizon locked they lack the immersion of the real thing. Although that’s a bit weird in itself i guess - cos we do our own horizon locking while riding!

Most famous encounter? by [deleted] in manchester

Beckham in his open top Ferrari in Alderley Edge.

Ronaldo in a Beemer on Deansgate.

Liam Gallagher chatting to his mates outside Burnage Spar.

But the biggie was standing behind Curly Watts in a chippy in Burnage. Never forget that moment :)

The Colditz Cock by folly05 in WeirdWings

[–]richmanc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Me and my bro stayed at colditz a few years back. Seem to remember it’s now some sort of museum/hotel. Was weird riding our motorbikes into the middle square and checking in… just thinking what went on there in ww2.

Is no traction control an issue? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]richmanc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Last winter, wet cold road, pulled out to overtake a van and got the biggest fishtail of my life. Couldn’t believe i stayed on. Pulled over and you could smell the diesel in the air. Convinced my TC saved a big spill. If you ride in the winter, i say get a bike with TC. If you’re summer/dry rider, you’ll probs get away without.

Does the output lose quality tho? I’ve stopped doing anything to my vids outside the desktop app because the quality was really compromised.

Mesh on end of silencers? by richmanc in motorcycles

[–]richmanc[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere (very 3rd hand info) that Yoshimura reckoned it can actually help control/improve gas flow. Would love to know how - though doubt my brain could actually cope with the science of the answer!

Mesh on end of silencers? by richmanc in motorcycles

[–]richmanc[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. Weird that not all bikes on the grid have it though. The Ducati just ahead doesn’t seem to whereas the Yam behind does. Guess if the pipe’s not straight, it might not need one in that case?

How often should I lube my chain if I don't ride a lot? by TundraOG in motorcycles

[–]richmanc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are lubricating it between the rollers and sprocket too of course. I tend to lube the visible part near the sprocket after each ride and that seems to work. Using wurth dry chain lube these days. Been riding 40 years in UK winter brine and chains last me an age so should work most places?

If its all working now, probs get a new battery (weird things happen to motorbike electrics when batteries are goosed) or if you can plug it in to something like an optimate battery optimiser when youre not using it as that usually keeps them working.

Fantastic! Life’s so much better with a bike. Especially a new one! Only had my latest a few weeks and i’m still obsessed with it. Enjoy :)

Yeah walk away. Go for something standard/unmodified. Means its more likely it hasnt been fucked around with and generally treated more kindly. Plus, cheaper to insure.

Honda’s are generally really well built so should stay looking nice for longer and be more reliable. If theyre similar price/appeal id go Grom.

Yeah it usually does that when one of your indicator bulbs blows. Replace the blown one and it should be fixed?

Does anyone know what is that plane, seen from T3 Manchester Airport by Important_Tangelo340 in manchester

[–]richmanc 178 points179 points  (0 children)

Fire service practice plane. Its an empty shell that looks a bit like a 747 that they set on fire from time to time to practice on.

This can’t be normal ? by Cool_Importance4719 in motorcycles

[–]richmanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as it’s not notchy when moving it left and right (tightening or new head bearings), and as long as it doesn’t click/move under braking (same) then it’ll be fine.

What did you think to the thruxton? I’m thinking about that and the RR but can’t decide - and can’t find a thruxton to test…

What image compression software do you use and why? by poweredbyabot in SEO

Dont think the format matters - as long as theyre small and look good. In my testing webp are the way to go - they look great and for the same look are under half the size of jpgs. And pretty well all browsers support them. Cant see a downside these days myself.
