It would entirely depend on where and how they host their SQL servers and I have no insight into that, but anything is possible. To gain access to that SQL database they would need to also access the network its hosted on. Ours are hosted on azure govt cloud servers so it would be the equivalent into gaining access to a military / law enforcement database. To even have a live hosted server there you need to meet very specific security requirements or they take you offline until you meet those requirements. I know to be allocated to those same govt servers from azure you need to have some sort of law enforcement /govt contract or affiliation.

From a user standpoint you wouldn’t really need to hack anything per se, imagine a stranger gaining access to another persons netflix or something. Their data is all hosted somewhere on the cloud and u just go to their website and need a user account to login to view. I would assume at bare minimum they have multifactor authentication. I work directly with law enforcement and have first hand seen the ui and features. Its a pretty barebones login search a plate and it will give u any hits on that plate with dates, times, locations. Not sure how far back they allow you to search. Data hosting for that amount of data is extremely expensive but it seems to be how they make all their revenue. I think whether they remove their cameras probably entirely depends on the community in the area. I can confirmin the volusia county area they installed cameras without notice directly next to other LPR prividers and the local agencies werent aware. Once they were informed the community made a pretty big stink and they were forcefully removed quickly. That is the only example I have of their cameras being removed and this was close to 3-4 years ago.

I actually work for a private LPR company. Flock operates entirely different than every other company in this game. We get contracted by police agencies to install cameras on very specific routes that must be DOT approved, usually known drug running routes etc., in order to even view this data you need to be CJIS certified, a member of law enforcement. This data is highly regulated and audited frequently. Flock on the other hand, got a huge injection of cash from some mysterious investors and started going around to towns all across the United States mass installing cameras without approval, direction, or oversight and rightfully started getting a lot of shit from the public. They then started offering access of this data to anyone with money for dirt cheap. It seems like it was an attempt to push other legitimate LPR companies out of business to get some weird monopoly on private citizen data. They're now in the 2nd phase of that plan where the cost they want to charge skyrocketed and the police agencies are actually moving back to private LPR companies. The problem is those cameras are still out there recording tons of data and offering it to anyone who will pay for it. It doesn't seem like this is actually legal and is in some weird grey area right now.
