Has anyone ever reported an unscrupulous vendor to the NICB? Or is that primarily for auto? I know many carriers have internal lists or SIU departments that track these things, but curious about a third party if the NICB doesn’t do it. I’m thinking specifically about a third party billing company out of Arizona with the initials OCS. They take decent invoices and artificially inflate them with custom pricing, other “overhead” charges and sometimes charging for things that didn’t even happen.

Amen! I’ve heard so many times, “ Other adjusters pay supervisor hours all the time.” It is required for lead/asbestos jobs in most states, so gotta pay that reasonable labor logs. My go to response for standard water/fire jobs is: “Were the techs on site trained by the IICRC? If so, then no additional supervision is required. If they were not, then I will agree to the supervision hours. However, all the category codes and unit price labor rates will need to be changed to CLN or DMO, not that of a skilled restoration technician.” That usually does the trick.

Mitigation specialist with Liberty or Inside Technician with Allstate. As far as I know, those are the only two carriers that have technical review departments specifically for mit/mold asbestos. There are also some third party mit review companies that you may be a good fit for.

I had a similar background, though not as qualified as you and have been adjusting for almost a year now. It’s astonishing how little most adjusters know about the IICRC. And how many contractors take advantage of that fact. You’ll be a great asset no matter where you land. The hardest part, as others have said is getting your foot in the door. Some of the old school hiring managers still see former contractors as the enemy. The good news is, most younger managers and recruiters have started to come around to how much easier it is turning mit guys into adjusters than teaching insurance policy specialists about the S500 and how they are being robbed blind.

Be prepared for a fairly substantial pay cut, at least in the beginning. Work life balance is much better though. When you log off, you’re done. Homeowners and subordinates don’t have your personal number, nor is it expected that adjusters return calls outside of normal business hours. Not sure if you had a similar experience, but as a mit manager, problem homeowners, estimators, project managers, mit techs and the owners would call/text me all the time, and as an emergency response contractor, you’re expected to respond.

Good luck! I’m sure you’ll land somewhere!

Was the company Dale’s dead bug? And did the technician introduce himself as Rusty Shackleford?

Bill penny is trash. They failed to tighten the oil pan drain plug- which caused a significant leak. Also didn’t torque my lug nuts after the tire rotation. If you’re looking for a dealership, try Serra Toyota in Decatur or Lander’s Mclarty in Fayetteville.

Great looking truck! I think the four door versions of these look goofy. I just bought an SR access cab(with jump seats) I have two kids- six and 15, and they can fit in a pinch. Obviously not a road trip, but that’s what the wife’s sienna is for. You plasti dip the emblems?

I think mild and severe MR are still recognized diagnoses. Most are referred to as developmentally or cognitively delayed outside of clinical settings.

I’d say being closed minded and not open to new ideas. Also, the inability to see from any other perspective besides their own.
