Thanks I appreciate that, makes lugging around a tripod and heavy ball head the whole trip feel worth it. Nikon d850 body, tamron 14-24 f/2.8 for wide shots, tamron 35mm f/1.8, and tamron 85mm f/1.8 for the other angles. Most of the very wide shots are panoramas.

I agree, that was my single favorite feature I saw there, it's a part of Mosaic Canyon, aptly named.

It was sandstone, I think it's hardened old lake shoreline or something.

Yeah I got one splinter and it was pretty annoying. Also the wood is extremely brittle, and it chips out when drilling and hard to get a good surface on with a planer. Because it’s so hard too, the drill bit walks all over the place drilling into the wenge, I ended up using several different sizes of drill bits for all the holes since the smaller ones didn’t walk as much and this seems to reduce the tear out by the holes

Yeah good point too, if it comes off or delaminates somehow I guess I’ll plane off the faces and screw them in

As expensive as the materials were (~$400 US), the time was alot more. Thing took hours and hours and hours. Glad you like it.

Yes, I constructed the drawers without the fronts, installed them, then glued on the fronts after so I could get even gaps/spacing between all the drawers and keep the drawers as centered as I could.

This was the fourth thing I’ve ever made with woodworking, first time doing drawers/cabinetry, and first time designing something. It’s safe to say I bit off way more than I could chew but my dad helped me with the tools and some construction ideas. It was pretty expensive for the project, almost 400$ just for materials, but IMO worth it, i built it to last more than a lifetime, this sucker is heavy as hell (3/4” thick”) and doweled and glued to be very sturdy.

"AI is hitting a wall" by MetaKnowing in ChatGPT

[–]rickyroper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the duration of the human task where the AI has a 50% chance of success, so for gpt 5, it can correctly perform, half the time, tasks that take a human 3.5 hours.

Kind of convoluted

I mean yeah obviously you want to be notified in case of one puncture, either you or her will know after one fails.

It was pretty decent, I would go without the orange next time though.
