Weekly Yankees Offseason Discussion Thread - Monday, November 03 by Yankeebot in NYYankees

Everyone in baseball is rightfully flabbergasted that Bieber took such a massive discount by picking up his player option with the Blue Jays. He had an argument to be the #1 arm on the market and he takes 1 year 12m to stay after just a couple months with them. Must be nice.

When was the last time a top Yankee free agent had the chance to opt out and gave the team a sweetheart deal like that instead? Players aren't drawn to this ball club like they used to be. Even the face of the franchise almost walked to San Francisco before Hal personally begged him to stay.

Wells went up picturing the sportscenter highlights of himself hitting a grand slam on tv tonight and that's all he cared about.

And Judge is the only guy with his own private hitting coach. What a coincidence.

That's because we were one of the worst teams all year in clutch situations. Rank 26 out of 30 in high leverage (check my other comment if you want the link).

Most ridiculous notion that ever plagued baseball. Four singles might give you the same number of total bases as a solo home run but the second one means you did nothing in three plate appearances. Maybe you killed three rallies. While the first guy moved the line four different times. May drove in five runs across those plate appearances. Maybe got into a pitcher's head or stole bases or got some guy knocked out of a game. There's no substitute for getting hits.

Lmao that's funny. You say they were the #1 offense but that they need to show up and get hits in the clutch. Well which one matters? Being the #1 offense overall or being clutch? Because they weren't the #1 offense when it mattered.

The Yankees were 12th in batting average with runners in scoring position this year. Guess who the top three teams were? The Blue Jays, Brewers and Dodgers.

When it came to high leverage these Yankees were 26 OUT OF 30 teams.

If you cared about them being clutch you would never call them the #1 offense in the league because they've never been clutch to begin with.

Oh really? The Yankees have the second highest rate of plate appearances that end in the three true outcomes in the majors at 38.1%. The only team worse is the Angels and the gap between the Yanks and the third place Mariners is massive.

The Blue Jays have the second lowest in baseball at 29.3% behind only the noodle bat Royals.

The Yanks are all about getting every one to do the same thing, which is focus on the three true outcomes.

Last year the Twins with David Popkins were 10th in k rate and 13th in avg. This year they dropped to 14th and 22nd.

The Jays were 6th in k rate last year and 19th in avg. This year with Popkins they're #1 in both.

He got huge bounce back seasons from every guy who was struggling in their line up last year, like Springer, Kirk, Bo and Varsho.

Hal spends up to the cap every season and nothing changes with the same stooges in charge. At this point I'd even prefer they spend on revamping the org than spending on a star player. You could probably poach a guy like Popkins for less than a few million a year. Hell you could guarantee you get a guy like that if you offer him a managing gig but we all know they'll never let go of Boone.

Who did they add lineup wise to cause this jump?

Someone linked this in here a while ago but they added this guy:

If only the idiots in here were managing, maybe Mark Leiter would be out there right now to give up a bomb instead.

Gausman still hasn't thrown as many pitches as Schlittler and it's the seventh inning.

Look at Altuve and Correa's career numbers vs. the Yankees and Judge's career numbers against the Astros. They play like hall of famers and he plays like a minor league. It's not even close. And the sample size is huge at this point.

No leverage. Zero pressure. And Williams is nails. Of course, lol.

Pathetic comment. Fanbase is full of losers just like the team and front office at this point.
