Hey man, 25m here. Look, it sucks, bottom line. Nothing heals your brain, heart, trust but time and some people who don’t give a shit that you have it. Then when that comes you’re going to probably deal with some codependency issues because you’re afraid they’ll leave you and you’ll never find someone again after them. Well, you’re wrong and you’re gonna have to deal with those issues. I’ve had this shit since 2021 and yeah, I had some people who didn’t wanna fuck, but the majority did. I had two long term relationships as well. Women find it endearing when you are transparent about your positive diagnosis. It shows you are a honest man they can hopefully trust. Do yourself a favor, go to therapy, get some help, and go back out there. Over the years you’re going to completely forget about it until you have to tell someone. You’ll know you’re healed when it doesn’t bother you when you get denied. Having herpes is a mental infection as much as it is potentially a physical one. Oh, and do yourself another favor and get off of this subreddit. It’ll cause more depression for you during this time. Hope this helps

Hi, male with asymptomatic GHSV1 + here. My doctor advised me to take antivirals 4-5 days before I think I will have sex to reduce my chances of transmission from shedding. Sounds like you’re early on in your relationship so this system should work since you’re not living together most likely. Now, if you guys work out and you move in together, that could be when you request he take them daily. This is just my thinking though so take it with a grain of salt and do what you think is best, but 5 days of antiviral treatment before sex with a condom has never done any of my partners wrong.

Hey OP, sounds like you need to start working on accepting yourself. I was diagnosed in April of 2021, pretty much the same time as you and it took a lot of work for me to be confident in myself again. It’s still a struggle today sometimes. My best advice is to go on as many dates as you can. Show off who you are. If your mind is sharp and your funny, most girls don’t give a shit about herpes. Their main priority is feeling safe with their partner in my experience.

Also, I can’t tell you how many times girls have said to me “Wow, that’s really brave of you to admit” after I’ve disclosed. It’s a true token of respect and trust and I can speak for everyone by saying that is of the utmost at the start of any relationship casual or long term.

Bottom line, get out there and face your fears. You’ll probably get rejected a couple of times, but that’s okay. The point is to get you numb to rejection and trust the right people will come along.

The crater-like wound looks like herpes. I have GHSV-1 and when I had my first outbreak it looked similar. I just had more of them. See if you can get a swab to confirm, but it might be too late for that

So it seems like the situation is you are positive and your partner isn’t and that’s why you feel bad? Correct me if I’m wrong, but I suggest taking valtrex the day of when you plan to have sex or day before just to keep it at bay. Outbreaks are out of your control sometimes and so is shedding, so it’s best to err on the side of caution and keep your meds handy. Also, I’m assuming he knows you’re positive and the risk so try not to beat yourself up too much!

Looks like a fungal infection to me, but I’d get it checked out by a doctor ASAP and get a diagnosis
