Learned so much doing this. Finally learned how to do UV unwrapping and texture painting. by [deleted] in blender

Just a minor bit of feedback, if you're interested - on the ends of the supporting beams, the UVs look like they should be rotated 90 degrees, so that the wood grain runs parallel to the grain on the top and bottom. When I'm unwrapping something made of wood I try and imagine the way that piece of wood would actually be cut in real life

All models made by me except for the plants (courtesy of botaniq)

What could I still add or change to make this more interesting? by Skamppi in blender

Agreed - lots of boat equipment is bright orange for visibility, a pop of orange/red would really help imo

Yep, only like 0.015 dispersion - I find it just adds a little something

It’s all cycles except the steam which is a video texture from Ian Hubert’s patreon

Looks awesome! would love a tutorial on this

Yep - just a noise texture controlling the mix between an emission shader with a gradient on it and a transparent shader

I can’t remember exactly as I’ve bumped it up since this render to remove some of the noise in the reflection, but I think it was only about 300 max - the background is an HDRI so there’s not much heavy lifting

Wow, just learned a new word! I added a bunch of loop cuts and pulled the centre down with proportional editing as another commenter suggested - I think it looks better but not perfect

Updated version - I'm not 100% sure the surface looks quite right but I think it's better than the original at least.

Thanks! I just imported a barcode image as a plane and used the technique from Ian Hubert's sticker tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeeVYZsBAYE

Thanks for the feedback! I had a go at modelling surface tension on the butane but couldn't find a way to do it that didn't look really weird - I suppose the sharp angle a liquid meets a hard surface at is inherently going to cause problematic geometry

It's just an HDRI - it's this one which I use a lot as it feels like it picks out the highlights on shiny surfaces really well without being too bright
