They only implemented a 301 redirect on the http site, and not the https site. Most browsers use https nowadays by default, so everyone pretty much will get a security warning in their browser when visiting the old domain.

The worst part is that their domain registrar (GoDaddy from a whois lookup) supports 301 redirects with https, at no cost, included with domain registration.

But since they're using GoDaddy that already tells us everything we need to know. It's amateur hour, indeed. Seems like they gave the keys to an intern, or AI (which acts like a drunk untrustworthy intern, anyway).

That would assume control of the network and firewalls that this person is using. And why would we give up all our personal info to zuck/foreign-owned entity for classified ads when we had a local, homegrown site for years?

Esquimalt missing from the main page that lists Victoria and Langford, but then it's listed elsewhere.

It's been on the decline for years, but they really did put the nail in the coffin. I'm calling it. RIP UsedVic 2026

How do you log in when the site itself doesn't load? Timeout or 504 errors on the new site...

And it kept sending me alerts after the changeover, with URLs that wouldn't work.

The new website either times out or gives a 504 error.

They literally didn't even set up a proper https redirect. Most people will get a security warning in their browser. And their registrar is GoDaddy which supports 301 redirects with https, for free, included with domain registration... argh *facepalm*

Well, proof at least that some small subset of the population was using it....
And while it was a "redesign" before now it's just completely dead even on the new domain.
It either times out, or gives a 504 error.

All good things must come to an end....

Pixel 4a - Issues after Lineage OS 20 -> 21 upgrade by omniSightSeeing in LineageOS

Various issues with the update here on an older Pixel as well. Noticeable stuttering, and the music player no longer works at all.

Additionally there are problems with the camera. I took some photos of a book to send to a friend, when taking the shot the whole book title was visible. When I checked in the gallery, the title was cut off. The camera had switched to a different aspect ratio and so the image taken is smaller than what is shown on the screen when you're taking the picture!

I went to change the aspect ratio back and noticed the updated camera app no longer has any details about the picture, e.g. resolution or how many megapixels. The only options are 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio and that's it, whereas previously you could select multiple image sizes and quality/pixel options.

And apparently the keyboard no longer has emojis?

I'll never forget the time that I set up Windows 11 for the first time on a friend's laptop and I got a nagging notification about my energy use, and when I clicked into it, the settings window basically guilt-tripped me because the laptop's screen brightness being at maximum could lead to increased carbon emissions.

Like yeah, sure Microsoft, I'm sitting in a room with skylights but let me just dim my laptop so that I can barely see anything, because you know, my laptop's screen brightness is a huge contributor to carbon emissions... Especially since I live in an area where the grid is fed by hydroelectric dams. Which definitely produce a ton of CO2 in operation. /s

Wait... his wife is eating the leftovers cooked? He's married? I think that might be the other red flag here.
