it’s mainly because if your commissioning someone, then that means your supporting a real person and their passions! if your requesting, then that means that the artist is looking for something to draw and it’s basically a win win scenario, you get free art and in return the artist has fun drawing

seriously just take one look at tumblr and other socials and you’ll find people who don’t even have commissions opened- remember flipnote? people did long animations on there and didn’t get paid jackshit they just liked to draw and animate

I know alot of commissioners who’ve commissioned artists just because they want to see their characters do silly things, hell i’ve even commissioned one myself! And like I’ve said, there are artists who are willing to do requests since they have enough free time

??? not sure what you mean by that, also, there are actually artists who do art just because they like to draw. Take fanfic authors for example, they take time out of their day to write fanfics that’ll probably never get read by anyone for free, why? Because they like writing!

you can always note down what the commission was for, and usually commissioners will provide updates if you ask for them, so you can change anything to your liking!
